Kayseri has a long and rich history as one of the finest carpet making Villages in the region. In order to achieve the intricate floral designs for which carpets are renowned, these rugs are often woven from natural, locally sourced sheep wool on a cotton foundation. Hand spun wool and natural dyes are used in the majority of Kayseri rugs. This particular rug has been “Color Reformed” and / or "Antique Washed" and the pile reduced to produce the faded / distressed “Vintage-Look” so popular at this time. Hand made in the 60's to 70's, woven of wool on cotton or wool on wool and in excellent condition, these rugs combine a contemporary color palette with vintage design appeal and the reduced pile allows for flexibility of placement under furniture and ease of cleaning.
