Plastic parachutes are susceptible to scorching or melting when directly subjected to the ejection charge, which is where the recovery wadding comes into play. It absorbs the majority of the force generated by the ejection charge, shielding the parachute from damage.
The recommended quantity of recovery wadding sheets varies depending on the motor being used, ranging from a few to several sheets.
