volgens EN 14624, kan men zelfs de kleinste lekken detecteren. Wanneer lekken ontdekt worden, verandert het display van groen  naar rood en weerklinkt een akoestisch signaal. Dankzij het oortje  kan de testo 316 gebruikt worden in luide omstandigheden. De maximumfunctie geeft het maximum aantal lekken weer en maakt zo een identificatie van de plaatsen met een lek mogelijk. De  flexibele zwanenhals zorgt voor een optimale plaatsing van de sensor dichtbij de plaats van het lek. De testo 316-4 (set 2) is speciaal voor koelinstallaties met ammoniak. De testo 316-4 (set 1)  kan ook ammoniak detecteren, mits de sensor wordt vervangen door de speciale ammoniak sensor.
