Sir Knight Knights Templar Commandery Illinois Regulation Chapeau

We customize all Chapeaus to your state regulation. If you need any modifications, just contact us.

We are one of the very few stores that offer Knights Templar Chapeaus with curly plumes. The plumes are made by hand!

As a general rule, Line officers have 4 to 6 plies, and Commanders and Grand Commanders have 8 plies.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The 4-ply option does not include a full curl, as it lacks sufficient feathers to achieve the desired shape. If an incorrect option is ordered, the customer is responsible for all return shipping costs and any additional charges required to modify the chapeau.

100% Wool Felt Body, silver slashing with bullion thread, Silver wire tassel, 4-ply x 8 whole-piece white & black genuine ostrich feather quill.

When you select the number of feather Plies in the options you are selecting the white plies. 2 additional black underlay feather Plies will be added.

Please Note: Chapeau sizes are not the same as standard Western-style hat sizes. We strongly recommend measuring your head circumference before selecting a size to ensure the best fit. If you are in between sizes or unsure, consider sizing up for comfort.

Refer to the size chart to determine your head size. Measure around the head, 3/4" above the ears. To identify your correct size before ordering your chapeau, please do the following:

  1. Have a non-stretching string around your head about 3/4” above the tips of your ears and across the middle of your forehead. This is the measurement of your head where the hat will sit.
  2. Hold the string firmly, but not too tight. Mark where the string meets.
  3. Lay the string on a flat surface and measure the distance between the marks. The sizes will range from 21 to 26 inches or even more for bigger heads. Provide the measurement in ¼” increments.
  4. Use this measurement against the table provided below to order your Chapeau, or if unsure, provide the actual measurement in inches.
  5. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next bigger size.

6-7/8 to 7                = 21.75 to 22.25

7-1/8 to 7-1/4           = 22.50 to 23

7-3/8 to 7/12           = 23.25 to 23.75

7-5/8 to 7-3/4          = 24      to 24.50

8                            = 25.25

    First programmer?
    Format: Paperback
As an ardent reader of the past 1st edition, I was fairly excited to get the latest version. That is, until I encountered the history chapter of the new edition. For one thing, what I do NOT understand in this second edition is the newly added description of August Ada Byron (countless of Lovelace). The author claims it was Babbage who was the first programmer to design the engines, not Ada. I am not trying to start a futile argument here about who has more or fewer contributions, etc. What I am trying to assert here is that it is undisputed that Ada (unless the new evidence arises) left *the very first demonstration* of what this seemingly imaginary machine, which didn't even physically exist, was capable of through her program. Because Babbage designed the engine itself, that doesn't automatically put him in the position of a programmer (despite Babbage being a brilliant engineer/scientist and may have had a simple or detailed program in his mind). However, it was Ada who gave a definite touch to programming concepts that ultimately led to modern-day programming. Ada deserves more recognition than a mere "tutorial writer," and she is certainly entitled to the title she deserves. Other than that, like the previous edition, this book is a must-read for people who are from related/unrelated fields. I always loved the 1st edition, and I would do too with the 2nd. Still, I think history should always be approached with more care, particularly if matters have potential controversies.

One of the few books worth your time
    Format: Paperback
If you want to learn computers, start here. Learning from a historical perspective removes complexity of trying to start with say GPUs - you learn just like computer engineers did, incrementally.

    An absolutely brilliant book
    Format: Paperback
This is an amazing book for the right kind of reader. It's a lot like Euclid's Elements but for computers as it leads the reader through designing a computer from first principles and builds to the point of creating software and adding peripherals. It's an amazingly clear but slightly challenging read. I have given this book as a gift many many times. It's an absolute classic in my opinion.

    Great introduction to Godot 4
    Format: Kindle
I've been writing various types of software for 10 years and was interested in learning Godot for 2D games. This book turned out to be informative and easy to follow and gave me the knowledge I was seeking. I learn best by example, and this project focused book was excellent in that regard. If you have zero programming experience, I would recommend learning something like Python before diving into this book. The book teaches with GDScript, which is Godot's Python-like programming language. There are some minor mistakes in the book, but an errata is currently being kept up-to-date on the github repository for the book. I opened a few issues for things I discovered, and the author added those things to the errata. Keep this in mind if you end up getting stuck on something and are 100% sure you followed the directions in the book. I use Unreal for 3D games, so I have not yet gone through the chapters of this book for 3D games. I wouldn't expect a drastic drop in quality, but for the purposes of this review I can't give any insight on the 3D chapters.
