Аркадій Штипель, 1944 року народження, дитинство та юність провів у Дніпрі, де почав віршувати спершу російською, а згодом і українською мовами. У 1965 році був виключений з Дніпропетровського держуніверситету з подачі КДБ за спробу видавати рукописний часопис і зі звинувачуваннями у формалізмі, очорненні радянської дійсності та українському націоналізмі. Після армійської служби осів у Москві, де протягом 2000-2010-х років видав п'ять збірок поезій.

Все життя потроху віршував українською. У 2016 році у видавництві Києво-Могилянської академії вийшла його збірка перекладів російської поетичної класики 'Моя маленька хрестоматія'. Брав участь у низці українських поетичних фестивалів. Свідомо повернувся в Україну у січні 2022 року перед війною, наразі живе в Одесі. І ось його 'дебютна' книжка українських віршів.
