Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light 48V 20A Solar Charge Controller: Reliable PWM Charging with Intelligent Load Control

Efficient 48V Solar Regulation for Off-Grid and Backup Systems

The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light 48V 20A Solar Charge Controller delivers dependable PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charging for 48V battery systems, combining straightforward operation with essential load management features. Designed for small to medium off-grid solar installations, this controller ensures your batteries are charged efficiently while protecting them from over-discharge through its integrated low voltage disconnect.

Unlike generic PWM controllers, the BlueSolar PWM-Light series incorporates Victron’s proven three-stage charging algorithm (bulk, absorption, float), optimised for 48V lead-acid and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. This extends battery lifespan and maximises usable capacity, reducing the risk of premature battery failure in remote or unattended systems.

Smart Load Output with Lighting Control

A standout feature is the programmable load output, which can be configured for manual control, low voltage disconnect, or automated lighting schedules. The intuitive two-digit seven-segment display allows quick setup of timer functions, making it ideal for controlling 12V/24V DC lights (via a DC-DC converter) or other loads directly from the controller. This eliminates the need for separate timers or relays in many applications.

The load output is protected against overload and short circuit, with automatic shutdown after 60 seconds at 130% load or 5 seconds at 160% load, and immediate shutdown on short circuit. This robust protection reduces the risk of damage to connected equipment and wiring.

Built for Harsh Australian Conditions

Engineered to operate at full load in temperatures from -20°C to +50°C, the BlueSolar PWM-Light is well-suited to the Australian climate. Its IP20 protection rating is designed for indoor or protected enclosure mounting, keeping the compact unit (95 x 140 x 33.5 mm) safe from dust and moisture ingress. The controller also features reverse polarity protection on both the solar array and battery connections, preventing accidental damage during installation.

Key Features

  • Three-stage PWM charging (bulk, absorption, float) for 48V batteries
  • Programmable load output with low voltage disconnect and lighting timer
  • Two-digit seven-segment display for easy configuration of load settings
  • Comprehensive electronic protection: overload, short circuit, reverse polarity, and over-temperature
  • Wide operating temperature range (-20°C to +50°C) for reliable performance in extreme conditions
  • Ultra-low self-consumption (< 10 mA) minimises battery drain when idle
  • Common positive grounding compatible with many existing systems
  • Compact and lightweight (0.17 kg) for easy installation in enclosures

Applications

This charge controller is an excellent choice for:

  • Remote off-grid cabins and sheds requiring reliable 48V battery charging
  • Solar-powered lighting systems with automated day/night timing
  • Telecommunications and monitoring equipment in isolated locations
  • Backup power systems where battery health is critical
  • Small-scale renewable energy projects needing a cost-effective, durable controller

With its combination of proven Victron reliability, essential load control, and straightforward operation, the BlueSolar PWM-Light 48V 20A controller is a smart investment for maintaining your off-grid power system. Add one to your solar setup today and experience worry-free battery management.

For work or casual wear, this polo is a great choice.
Material Type: Recycled Polyester, Color: Port Stripe, Size: X-Large
I really like this polo. I've been wearing it once a week or every other week since November. Its very comfortable and breathable. This polo feels like it should last a while. The fit is good. I typcally wear XL and this XL fits great. I've pruchased it in both burgundy and black so far. I definitely recommend this shirt. For work or casual wear, this will look good.

Great value: These are my go-to work from home shirt
Material Type: Recycled Polyester, Color: Blue, Size: X-Large
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by these shirts and wear them weekly for Zoom calls, since I’m still working from home these days. I figured at the price point it was worth trying them out, and now I’ve bought several in different colors. They aren’t super soft, but they are comfy and look nice. I’m 6’1” ~220 pounds, and the XL slim fit still has plenty of room. I imagine the regular cut is incredibly boxy and oversized. The difference between polyester vs recycled polyester is inconsequential. I typically buy expensive golf shirts, and these definitely aren’t as nice. They are a fraction of the cost though and a great “beater” work shirt / hang out shirt. It’s nice wearing something that looks and feels decent, but if something happens to it, you can toss and it and pick up another for the cost of a chipotle burrito.

Great price, not great quality
Material Type: Recycled Polyester, Color: Black, Size: Small
Simple, straight forward all black polo. I am a size medium woman (with some room since I don't like form-fitting) and bought a men's small. Fits perfectly for my frame. Long enough to tuck in for my part-time extra weekend job uniform. Also suitable for the golf course. A little thin, and if you hold it up to light you can sort of see through it. *Not* flowy, soft and smooth fabric like a rash guard/sun shirt - more structured than that. But it's cool and does the job for the price under $10.
