The Jacques Herbin Eclats Fine Art Violet de Mars Watercolor Ink Bottle brings a refined, earthy purple to sketchbooks and studio desks alike. This richly hued watercolor ink dilutes beautifully for transparent washes and deepens smoothly into layered shadows, making it a versatile choice for illustration, lettering accents, and expressive studies.
Craftsmanship & Color
Part of the Eclats Fine Art range, Violet de Mars offers a sophisticated purple with subtle warmth that reads elegantly on watercolor paper. It blends cleanly with water, responds well to glazing, and allows soft gradients or crisp, high-contrast edges depending on technique. The fluid consistency supports both broad brushwork and finer detailing with dip or glass pens.
Use & Techniques
Create from delicate tints to saturated strokes with simple water control. Apply as a wash, layer for depth, or mix on a palette for nuanced tones. Ideal for sketching, urban journaling, and calligraphic flourishes when used with brushes or dip tools. This watercolor ink is not recommended for use in fountain pens.
