Hidersine HEV2 Electric Violin

The HEV2 electric violin by Hidersine is an excellent option for students and established players who wish to practise quietly, using headphones to enjoy the full sound.

However, when plugged into an amplifier, the possibilities are endless. Not only will your electric violin sound like a regular acoustic instrument, but you could plug into your tablet or PC to record, or use third-party software to add countless effects.

Supplied as an outfit, the Hidersine HEV2 is complete with a quality bow, and supplied in a rectangular protective case.

An instrument with many possibilities:

Hidersine’s HEV2 delivers a fantastic tone when amplified or when using headphones, as it will sound just like a regular violin. However, the fun doesn’t stop there.
You want to practise at a much lower volume than a conventional violin? No problem, just pop on a pair of headphones or earbuds and play to your hearts content with minimal audible acoustic tone.
Want to play loud and proud? Then plug the violin into an amplifier and crank it up.
Want to experiment with your sound? Then use some guitar effects pedals or an app on your phone to add effects to your violin playing for awesome results.

Suitable for all levels of musician:
Although a fantastically useful tool for a violin student, the Hidersine HEV2 is not solely for use in this context.
As the violin is built to high standards, observing the traditional scale and construction of acoustic violins, any player of any standard can pick it up and play immediately.
Proficient players can choose this instrument as a backup or additional tool in their musical arsenal, choosing to use the HEV2 as an experimentation tool.
Perhaps you fancy busking, but don’t fancy taking your vintage violin out on the streets. Just grab a small amp and your HEV2 and you’re all set.

Contemporary look, traditional heart.

Although the Hidersine HEV2 is a modern-looking violin, it is built to the same exacting standards as an acoustic instrument of the same level.
The body is made of birch, which helps produce a good resonant tone when amplified. The birch body however has a veneer of flamed maple on the top and back which echoes the look of the hollow maple bodies of acoustic violins.
The pegs, fingerboard and chinrest are made of genuine ebony. The use of ebony has long been a mark of a quality violin, as ebony is an excellent hardwood which can withstand the strain of high tension strings for a very long time. Therefore, not only with the fittings look and feel authentically traditional, they will last a lifetime of wear – unlike those instruments that use inferior wood, painted black to look like ebony.

Your Playing, Amplified:

Using a ‘Piezo’ pickup located under the maple bridge of the violin, the Hidersine Electric Violin will reliably capture every nuanced detail of your playing style, whether audible externally through an amplifier or played discreetly through headphones.
On one side of the instrument are the outputs – a 6.35mm large jack output for use with most instrument amps, and a 3.5mm mini-jack for use with headphones.
On the other side is a preamp, where volume is controlled along with bass and treble EQ controls. The battery compartment for the preamp is located in the back of the instrument, and this requires a PP3 (square) 9v battery to operate.

Great product! Worth the purchase
Color: White, Size: 2.5', Style: 2.5 ft
I just wanted a surge protected that's cheap and protects from lightning. I got this product since it was the highest rating for the price. I love this product, and it works great. I have all 6 used and it wasn't that hard to plug in the outlets as some say. It is a little harder than usually, but they don't fall out anymore! I haven't had lightning hit yet so I don't know how well it is against it, but it does come with a lifetime warranty! I just had a bad storm and it worked great, but no lightning struck the power line. I love the product for the price just don't like that it doesn't have the protected light on it (to let you know if you are still protected from lightning). Great product! Also this is a little bigger than a normal 6 outlet, but at least this one includes a surge protection!

Better than the basic power strip
Color: White, Size: 2.5', Style: 2.5 ft
I needed to get a basic five or six outlet power strip and instead ended up with this . Since the power strip that I was going to get was for basic protection, and would be plugged into a surge suppressor anyway, I really wasn't concerned about how much protection it offered. Just having the extra outlets for additional small-to-medium electrical devices was important. While looking and comparing this with basic power strips, I decided to check the manufacturer's site to see what specs they offered, since the ones here seemed to be a bit inadequate. Here's what I found: * 555 Joule energy rating provides maximum protection of all your sensitive electronic devices * 6 Surge-protected outlets supply 2-line AC protection * 2.5-foot power cord delivers optimal, safe AC power through a 14-gauge heavy-duty cord * Filters EMI/RFI noise up to 43 dB reduction * Maximum Spike Amperage of 36,000 Amps * Lifetime Product Warranty * $15,000 Connected Equipment Warranty The pros on this unit include the price, the basic surge protection, a short but sturdy power cord, and good basic construction. It has a power/reset switch that's recessed at the top of the unit near the power cord to prevent accidental shutting down. On the negative side, like so many of these units, the outlets are too close together to put more than a couple transformer-type devices like cell phone chargers and such. Just a couple of comments on the specifications listed above to those who may be interested: if you're going to plug high-end expensive electronics into one of these, don't do it. This is an adequate but very basic unit, and you want to consider getting a better grade surge suppressor for large screen televisions, good computer systems and such. No surge protector is 100% effective, but sure that the product is listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor, and that it meets the criteria for UL 1449, the absolute minimum performance standard for surge suppressors. I'm no electrical engineer or electronics technician, but if you're going to protect an expensive jogging machine, your new 52-inch television or Apple iMac 27-inch desktop system, you need better than an under $10 surge suppressor or power strip. A friend who I will refer to as the 'cranky electronic tech' told me to look it up on the 'Net, but make sure that whatever I got for protection of "really good stuff" needed to be minimally have a UL1449 3rd Edition certification and be rated at 1400 joules of surge protection or higher, and the rest would fall into place. The that I've used for years with my large electronics is rated at 3330 Joules, and meets those specs. If you plan to use a basic surge suppressor to charge cell phones and the like with their transformer plugs, units with right-angle outlets are a better, though more costly choice. My personal choice for mid-range protection combined with outstanding quality is the , a 5-star product that I own and have reviewed here. I run two notebook computers with this, along with a few chargers. There are others if you look. If all that you're looking for is a basic surge protector with a reasonable amount of surge suppression, then this one from Belkin is a decent choice, and certainly better than the basic power strip. I actually came back recently and bought a second one this year. But if your needs call for more, then the above listed alternates may be worth a look. 4/25/2012

It just works, and that is all that matters
Color: White, Size: 10 ft (Pack of 1), Style: 10 ft
It's a Belkin product. Do you really need to know anything more? My roommate bought a really crappy multi-outlet, it worked for the low wattage stuff, but for the higher wattage stuff the internal breaker kept popping. I bought this one, and it hasn't failed me yet.

i cant comment on its performance as a surge protector but as a power strip its awesome. its redic cheap plenty of plug ins super thin, my other strip is twice as thick the on off switch is hidden which is great to not accidentally hit it, and with having kids around the cord length is perfect for my needs. its plug in behind a chair and a half and comes around the side and has plenty of play to move and plug and unplug the only con i can say about it which is not really a con because it wasnt designed for it. your only going to fit 1 big adapter on the end, or your going to have to give up plug ins to have more than that. but that clearly isnt the design of this strip. its about being thin, compact, hidden, and cheap. you want one that can do everything, your going to have to spend more
