Two nations. Two ideologies.A thrilling and ambitious novel about identity and the overwhelming power of culture that shows us how, even at the darkest corners of history, life finds a way.
Madrid, Winter of 1938 Clotilde, a graphic artist that draws cartoons for republican newspapers, spends the last months of the Civil War in Madrid. The fall of the Republic is imminent, so her husband, a communist militant working for the Russians, must send their son, Pablo, only five years old, to Moscow against her will. Clotilde resists with all her might, but can't stop commander Boris Petrov from embarking on this dangerous journey through a Spain in flames to fulfil his comrade's wish and deliver Pablo to the Soviet Union, where Stalin is erecting a new country on top of the ruins of the old regime. Moscow, Spring of 1939
There he is greeted by his new family. Touched by his tragic exile, they affectionally welcome an exhausted and sick boy. Anya immediately takes care of Pablo as if he were her own son, making no distinction between him and Igor, Pablo's adoptive brother. Daughter and wife of two proud heroes of the Revolution--her father fought next to Lenin, her husband under Stalin--Anya loves poetry and music, dubious and bourgeois interests in the eyes of the authorities. While her illusions capsize within the increasingly oppressive Stalinist terror, her spirit rebels against injustice, misery, the absence of freedom, and the Gulag. Pablo grows up between the ever-more tenuous memory of his mother, relentless in her efforts to get him back, and Anya's love, who shares with him her love for music, for literature, and her yearning for freedom. Two women united by a boy's fate, both reflected in the same mirror: the totalitarian ideologies the twentieth century succumbed to. You may lose a war, and yet earn your freedom.

Great chew toy to keep around the house
Color: Blue/Medium, Size: Blue, Color: Blue/Medium, Size: Blue
This came highly recommended by the behavioural team at the animal shelter and it hasn't disappointed. It's interesting reading the reviews, because our power-chewer pit-mix who can get a chunk off a split antler in a matter of minutes, hasn't ever been able to get a bite out of this bone! This is a great play toy for her, because it's soft enough that we can throw it for her to fetch in the house without worrying about breaking/denting something and are able to pull it out of her mouth fairly easily once she brings it back (still hasn't learned "drop it!"). The bone isn't flavored, so she'll rarely go to it on her own to chew on, but we keep it near the couch so if she ever gets bitey, we have it close at hand to offer to her as a chewer. It's also entertaining to tuck it into her collar and have her figure out how to remove it to play with it (see photo for this game and size compared to 50lb mutt).

Best bouncy bone!
Color: Orange/Large, Size: Orange, Color: Orange/Large, Size: Orange
My pups love these bones! They are soft and rubbery, but very durable. Had them for a little over 6 months and it has survived my extreme chewers and many tug of war games, and only has a few puncture marks! They bounce on my concrete floors and my pup loves to play fetch with this. Great purchase

Excellent for aggressive chewers
Color: Blue/Medium, Size: Blue
First I would like to say I think Jolly Pets are the best line of dog toys out there if you have an aggressive chewer. Their products have amazed me! And I am not being paid for this review. I have a 155 lb mastiff that is an excellent behaved boy but loves to destroy his toys. I had this bone in large and it held up excellent for about 4-5 months. I ordered it again in medium size by mistake and after 2 weeks it already has pieces missing...my fault. My only complaint is the medium size in blue smells like vanilla perfume. I can't wash it off. Although my handsome boy doesn't seem to mind. I just reordered in large. Also ordered a few other Jolly Pet toys as I am amazed at how they hold up. The "soccer ball" is my dogs favorite. It reinflates itself again and again no matter how much chewing or wear and tear its given. It's just magic!

This company makes great toys for pitts!!
Color: Blue/Medium, Size: Blue, Color: Blue/Medium, Size: Blue
Our pitt LOVES this toy. The rubber is reeeaally tough. It’s well designed because it’s a slippery surface. You can tell from the video there’s a lot of squeaking from him trying to get a good grip. He found a pretty good spot to hook his upper teeth into the crevasse, but his bottom teeth kept slipping.
As a side note, I wouldn’t leave any toy home alone with him that’s about 3 inches or smaller because dogs can choke on it, but that doesn’t make this any toy or company any less amazing. For toys I would leave home with a power chewer, take a look at that 4inch red ball made by this same company. He hasn’t made a dent in that thing and you can put treats in it. :)
