Victron 12V to 24V Orion 12/24-20A Non-Isolated IP20 DC-DC Converter

Professional-Grade DC-DC Conversion for Demanding Mobile and Off-Grid Systems

Engineered for reliability in the toughest environments, the Victron Orion 12/24-20A DC-DC converter delivers clean, stable power conversion with industry-leading efficiency. Whether you're stepping voltage up or down, this non-isolated converter ensures your sensitive electronics and battery banks receive precisely regulated power, reducing the risk of voltage drop and equipment malfunction common with lower-grade alternatives.

Unlike generic converters that struggle with fluctuating input voltages, the Orion maintains consistent output even under variable loads, making it the preferred choice for professional installers and system integrators across Australia. Its robust design and advanced protection features safeguard your investment, providing peace of mind for critical applications where power stability is non-negotiable.

Advanced Power Conversion Technology

At the core of the Orion is a high-frequency switchmode design that achieves up to 93% conversion efficiency, minimising wasted energy and heat generation. This not only reduces thermal stress on the unit but also preserves precious battery capacity in off-grid setups. The result is cooler operation, longer service life, and more usable power for your loads.

With an input voltage range of 9-18V, the converter handles the wide voltage swings typical of alternator charging and battery discharge cycles without interruption. An intelligent under-voltage shutdown protects your source battery from deep discharge, automatically restarting when voltage recovers to a safe level.

Key Features

  • High Efficiency up to 93% – reduces energy loss and heat buildup for reliable long-term operation
  • Wide Input Voltage Range (9-18V) – accommodates real-world voltage fluctuations without performance drop
  • Continuous Output Current of 20A – powers demanding loads with headroom for surges
  • Compact IP20 Aluminium Enclosure – durable and lightweight, with integrated mounting points for secure installation
  • Protection Against Under-Voltage, Over-Temperature, and Short Circuit – safeguards both the converter and connected equipment
  • Remote On-Off Capability – enables system-level control without high-current switching
  • Parallel Connection Support – scale output current by linking multiple units for larger systems
  • Adjustable Output Voltage – fine-tune voltage to match specific battery chemistries or load requirements

Built for Australian Conditions

From the corrugations of the Outback to the corrosive salt air of coastal waters, the Orion is built to endure. Its anodised aluminium chassis resists corrosion while acting as an effective heat sink. The IP20 rating suits protected installations inside vehicles, vessels, and equipment enclosures, where it is shielded from direct weather but still benefits from passive or active cooling.

All DC connections are engineered for low resistance and high current handling, using M6 bolt terminals that accept appropriately sized lugs for minimal voltage drop. This attention to detail ensures maximum power transfer and reduces the risk of hot connections that plague inferior products.

Applications

The Orion 12/24-20A converter excels wherever reliable DC voltage conversion is required:

  • Marine and Boating – power 12V electronics from a 24V house bank, or charge a 12V starter battery from a 24V alternator
  • Recreational Vehicles and Caravans – run 24V appliances from a 12V system, or maintain auxiliary batteries while driving
  • Off-Grid Solar Systems – interface between different battery voltages or power 24V equipment from a 12V battery bank
  • Industrial and Mobile Plant – provide stable voltage for control systems, communication gear, and monitoring equipment
  • Emergency Services and Fleet Vehicles – ensure critical 12V or 24V loads remain operational regardless of vehicle voltage

Why Professionals Choose Victron Orion

Generic DC-DC converters often fail prematurely due to inadequate cooling, poor voltage regulation, or lack of protection features. The Orion addresses these risks with a proven design backed by Victron's decades of power electronics expertise. Its conservative component ratings and comprehensive testing mean it performs reliably year after year, reducing downtime and replacement costs.

Installation is straightforward, with clear terminal markings and included accessories where applicable. The compact footprint allows mounting in tight spaces, while the lightweight construction minimises added weight to vehicles and vessels.

Power Your System with Confidence

Equip your setup with the Victron Orion 12/24-20A DC-DC converter and experience the difference professional-grade power conversion makes. Whether you're upgrading an existing system or building from scratch, this converter delivers the performance and durability needed for Australia's harshest environments. Add it to your power system today and ensure your critical loads always receive clean, stable voltage.

What a ride.
Format: Paperback
How these two come together with the rest of the iconic characters is just so fun. Add in a Screaming Citadel and you're in for one hell of a ride. If you love Star Wars, pick it up. It could read as a stand-alone if needed. Part of the Doctor Aphra comics.

Absolutely top-knotch
Format: Kindle
9.5/10 This is the pinnacle of Star Wars comic books. A great way to tie in their Indiana Jones character in Aphra and the mainline series to tell an amazing story. Only complaint is a couple of the issues artwork I was not a fan of. I like the more realistic look. Just make sure you read Aphra book 1 and the previous SW books to understand it better. Aphra book 1 being more important

Star Wars embraces fantasy
Format: Paperback
This is Star Wars at its' strangest, and that's a very good thing. Luke and co. fighting through what could easily be Dracula's castle is a truly unique experience. I don't wish to say more for fear of spoilers. As a note though you will get more out of this if you've been following the Star Wars and Dr. Aphra comics. However you can get by without that knowledge as well.

Gothic Star Wars
Format: Paperback
This trade paperback collects all the issues for the Screaming Citadel story spread over several titles, including the main stay Star Wars series and the Dr Aphra book. As one might expect from a story spread over different titles with different artists and writers, the presentation varies. The art is all over the place. In the Marco Checchetto-drawn initial issue, everyone’s favorite amoral artifact hunter, Dr Aphra, is a striking space vixen. But in the following issues she’s hardly recognizable as the same character--mousier, if still menacing, in her trademark Russian tanker’s hat. To a lesser degree, the same is true for the other characters, including the main SW group. It’s understandable, but a bit disconcerting. The story centers on Dr Aphra, who, in need of a Jedi for one of her typically nefarious purposes, recruits Luke into her scheme. Unfortunately for Aphra, she’s up against a more ruthless foe in the harlequin-looking vampire-like Queen of the Screaming Citadel. Before long, the rest of the group has to show up to rescue them. It’s a gothic story, set in scary castle—not the usual Star Wars fare. There are some good points. Dr Aphra’s almost sociopathic outlook is always good for a few choice lines, the “murderous machines” Bee Tee and Triple Zero are on hand for their own gruesome commentary and some of the Queens hench-people, while not given much to do, are interestingly designed. But overall, the horror movies plotline didn’t seem much like Star Wars to me. Recommended for those who enjoy that type of story, or completists.

Luke and Doctor Aphra team up!
Format: Paperback
This is the second crossover event in the Marvel Star Wars comics. It brings the ongoing Doctor Aphra and Star Wars series together. I liked the pairing of Luke with Aphra. They play well off of each other with Luke's naive goodness and Aphra's experienced gray morality. I liked when she called him a wannabe padawan. There are some well designed characters in this comic. The residents of the Screaming Citadel have a goth bdsm vibe. Luke even gets to dress up. I liked seeing him in something different. I want to know more about Sana and Aphra's past!!! Please, Marvel, make a queer love story prequel!!! The murder droids are wonderful. Having them on the same side as the "good guys" for at least the time being led to some funny situations. The last panel intrigued me. I give this graphic novel a 4/5. I am always here for more Doctor Aphra!
