Maximize Production Speed and Chip Clearance with the Freud 3/8 Inch Single Flute Straight Router Bit

Optimize your high-production workflow with the Freud 11-158 3/8 Inch Single Flute Straight Bit. Designed specifically for fast feed rates and efficiency, this bit features a single flute geometry that provides maximum space for chip ejection. This design is crucial when working at high speeds, as it prevents chip clogging and reduces heat buildup, ensuring a cooler cut and extending the life of the tool. It is the ideal choice for rapid stock removal and general-purpose routing where speed is a priority.

Constructed from Freud's Premier Solid Carbide, this bit offers superior hardness and edge retention compared to standard steel cutters. The robust 1/2-inch shank provides the stability needed to minimize vibration during heavy-duty cutting. Whether you are operating a high-speed CNC machine, a table-mounted router, or a hand-held tool, this bit delivers consistent performance in hardwood, softwood, plywood, and composite materials.

Key Features

  • High-Production Design: Single flute geometry allows for faster feed rates and increased productivity.
  • Maximum Chip Clearance: Open flute design ejects debris rapidly to prevent clogging and overheating.
  • Premier Solid Carbide: Micro-grain carbide construction ensures a sharper edge and longer tool life.
  • Versatile Compatibility: Engineered for use on CNC, hand-held, and table-mounted routers.
  • Heavy-Duty Shank: 1/2-inch shank diameter offers excellent stability and reduces chatter.
  • Multi-Material Cutting: Effective in hardwood, softwood, plywood, and various composites.

What's Included:

  • (1) 3/8 In. Single Flute Straight Bit with 1/2 In. Shank (Model 11-158)

2nd time purchasing this item. The 1st one lasted 2 years, but my boat hasn't been used a lot either. The marine mechanic who replaced it for me said it was definitely time to replace it. He said it fits and works just fine. Has good water flow. As for quality and value, I'd say decent. The price is better than an OMC OEM pump. I plan on using my boat more this year, so we'll see how it holds up. I'll get it replaced at the end of the year. Ease of installation, NOT EASY. The lower unit has to be completely removed from the outboard. Some outboard are easier than others and as old as this one is, it's probably easier than some of the newer ones. I've watched a couple of videos on YouTube on how to do it and I might try to do it myself next time. It cost $360 to have it done and that's with me supplying the pump. He said it took him about 1½hours to do the job, but I was charged for 3 hours labor. Probably what the book shows. I'd buy it again and I'll try to do the job myself.
