Каталог выставки посвящен коллекции изделий из кварца. Впервые вместе представлены около 200 лучших эрмитажных памятников из различных отделов музея, которые выполнены из горного хрусталя и ближайших его "родственников": дымчатого кварца и аметиста.
Включены произведения, созданные на протяжении огромного периода - с V в. до н.э. до начала XX столетия, что дает возможность познакомиться с резчиками различных школ, стран и эпох. Изделия из горного хрусталя - таинственного и магического, чистого как родник и прозрачного как стекло - редко использовались утилитарно. Они были украшением кунсткамер или служили дипломатическими подарками. В каталог включены предметы, принадлежавшие кардиналу Альдобрандини, Анне Клевской, Яну Собескому, Августу Сильному, Петру I и др.
Многие памятники публикуются и воспроизводятся впервые, что делает каталог особенно интересным и значимым.

Catalog of the exhibition is devoted to the collection of products from quartz. Presented together for the first time about the top 200 Hermitage monuments from different sections of the museum, which are made of rock crystal and his closest "relatives": smoky quartz and amethyst.
Includes works created over a vast period - from V. BC before the XX century, which makes it possible to meet carvers different schools, countries and periods. Products made of rock crystal - a mysterious and magical, like a spring of pure and transparent as glass - rarely used utilitarian. They adorn the Cabinets of or served as diplomatic gifts. The catalog includes items that belonged to Cardinal Aldobrandini, Anne of Cleves, Jan Sobieski, Augustus the Strong, Peter I and others
Many monuments are published and reproduced for the first time, making the catalog of particularly interesting and significant.
