Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in adults 65 years or older. It affects more than 10 million people in NorthAmerica and an equal number in Western Europe. When cells of the maculabreak down, central vision is impaired. There are few effective treatmentsfor the disease, but diet and lifestyle changes may help reduce risk or slowprogression of AMD and cataracts.There are two basic types of AMD, dry and wet. The dry form accounts forapproximately 90 per cent of all AMD cases and generally progresses moreslowly than the wet type. Both damage the macula and reduce centralvision. Generally AMD sufferers retain their peripheral vision.
Two carotenoids (plant pigments)—Lutein and Zeaxanthin—are the onlyantioxidants specifically transported into the macula and concentrated inthis part of the eye. Research suggests that lutein and zeaxanthin mayprotect against AMD. Long time Timex iron man digital owner. First analog watch I've owned in a long, long time. LOVE IT. I don't know I'd go swimming or kayaking with this -- might be fine -- but for "dry land" this is a great watch, good band, for a reasonable price. It's battery powered, but that's OK with me.

Disappointing

Overall the watch is ok. The price doesn't reflect the quality of the watch. This should be a $20.00 dollar watch. I purchased this partially because I thought the number would glow at night, they do not. The hour and minute hand barely glow at night. I decided to just keep it, rather than returning it, and now I wish I had just returned it. After 2 months, I got a scratch on the watch, what looks like cheap, plastic. I can't say I would recommend it for that reason, I'm a average field watch wearer, which means they have to be somewhat durable. This was disappointing.
