Story

On October 19, 2010, Jo-Ann Fuller and Ivan Polivka died when their ambulance jumped a retaining wall crashing into the waters of Kennedy Lake. "The ambulance" that had saved so many lives as a result of their devotion and hard work as paramedics was the vehicle that held them when their lives ended.

There are many great tributes in memory of Jo-Ann and Ivan from their fellow paramedics and friends. I am grateful to be counted as one who knew both of them and had an understanding of their work because I was on ambulance duty years ago with the Saanich Fire Department.

Perhaps Jo-Ann sensed my understanding of the demands of her profession. Regardless of what the connection might have been, Jo-Ann was a strong supporter of the gallery and she was often among the visitors for my storytelling engagements and new releases. She had a quiet way of encouraging me as both an artist and a member of the community of Tofino.

Ivan was a quiet man who loved the outdoors and lived on Chesterman Beach in Tofino where his house faced Frank Island. Ivan would often take his sleeping bag and sleep under the stars on the island. Ivan's family and friends spread his ashes on Frank Island as it was his favorite place to be. This limited edition hand screened print titled, "Frank Island", was prompted by Jennifer and Carly Steven, and is dedicated to Jo-Ann Fuller and Ivan Polivka. It is intended to bring attention to the dedication of paramedics who work to save lives. My prayer with this memorial print is for the families of these two beautiful people. May the families know peace in a time of sorrow.

The Autumn sunset over Frank Island with geese flying south heralds a change of seasons for the environment and people's lives. Male and female faces represent two loved ones who left this world. May they rest in peace. The colors represent healing to comfort the loved ones who grieve their tragic loss.

Jo-Ann Fuller and Ivan Polivka may you be remembered for the lives you saved and the care you have given to the world around you. Hagwil yaan, go in peace.

Great piece of equipment. Worked for mouse, hard drive, and digital camera all into a laptop.
Works great. I used to plug in a mouse, an external hard drive, and an overhead Nikon digital camera for historic digitization of documents and books. It small and compatible and there were no connection or power problems. It feels well built and sturdy and the cord connection to the device is strong and flexible.

Great for retro emulation!
Got this for a retro emulation setup. Worked great. No issues whatsoever. Works on apple as well. Its a basic usb hub, but doesn't feel cheap. Got it on sale, which made it even better!

inexpensive usb3.1 gen 2 hub with PD
This USB3.1 gen 2 hub is well made, featuring VIA Labs controller (device id 2109:2822) and is made in China. It looks nice and performs according to the specs. I wish usb-c socket supported TB3/Alt DP cable to connect a display to it, but it is apparently made mainly for power delivery. I think the hub is a good value.

Do you need a powered hub instead?
NOT powered. My bad, I didn't look closely enough. I need a powered hub.
