Суїцидальна поведінка є актуальною етичною, моральною, соціальною та медичною проблемою. Високий ризик суїцидальної поведінки в сучасних умовах потребує, поряд з іншими заходами, також і медичних профілактичних заходів.
У даних методичних рекомендаціях викладено медичні, психофізіологічні та організаційні заходи діагностики та профілактики розвитку пресуїцидальних форм поведінки військовослужбовців, які враховують вітчизняний та закордонний досвід країн НАТО (Stanag 2564, AMedP-8.6; Stanag 2569, AMedP-69), а також напрацювання суїцидологів Канади та США (Тhe American psychiatric publishing textbook of suicide assessment and management, 2012; Report of the Canadian Forces Expert Panel on Suicide Prevention, 2010).
