“What’s so wonderful about Bramesco’s book, outside of a visually splendid layout that embraces the first word of that title with detailed color breakdowns of each palette, is how much it enhances the critical language of the average viewer.” —Brian Tallerico, Editor of RogerEbert.com

Taking you on from the earliest feature films to today, Colors of Film introduces 50 iconic movies and explains the pivotal role that color played in their success.

The use of color is an essential part of film. It has the power to evoke powerful emotions, provide subtle psychological symbolism and act as a narrative device.

Wes Anderson’s pastels and muted tones are aesthetically pleasing, but his careful use of color also acts as a shorthand for interpreting emotion. Moonlight(2016, dir. Barry Jenkins) cinematographer (James Laxton) and colorist (Alex Bickel) spent 100 hours fine-tuning the saturation and hues of the footage so that the use of color evolved in line with the growth of the protagonist through the film. And let’s not forget Schindler’s List (1993, dir. Steven Spielberg), in which a bold flash of red against an otherwise black-and-white film is used as a powerful symbol of life, survival and death.

In Colors of Film, film critic Charles Bramesco introduces an element of cinema that is often overlooked, yet has been used in extraordinary ways. Using infographic color palettes, and stills from the movies, this is a lively and fresh approach to film for cinema-goers and color lovers alike.

He also explores in fascinating detail how the development of technologies have shaped the course of modern cinema, from how the feud between Kodak and Fujifilm shaped the color palettes of the 20th Century's greatest filmakers, to how the advent of computer technology is creating a digital wonderland for modern directors in which anything is possible.

Filled with sparkling insights and fascinating accounts from the history of cinema, Colors of Film is an indispensable guide to one of the most important visual elements in the medium of film.

Color is not accurate
Size: Medium, Color: Grey
Suit quality is good. This is NOT dark grey. Its a very standard grey when you have it in person. I might return just for this reason as we were really looking for a dark grey suit.

Stylish, Well-Made, and Comfortable!
Size: XX-Large, Color: Black
I recently purchased this 3-piece suit for my grandson, and I’m very impressed with the quality and fit. The fabric feels durable yet soft, and the tailoring gives it a sharp, modern look without feeling too stiff. The vest adds a classic touch and elevates the overall style. The sizing was accurate, and the suit was comfortable to wear for long hours at work and events. The jacket, pants, and vest all coordinate perfectly, and I appreciate the attention to detail, like the lining and buttons. Whether you’re attending a wedding, business meeting, or formal event, this suit looks expensive without breaking the bank. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a versatile, stylish 3-piece suit!

Sharp and Expensive Quality Tuxedo for special events!!
Size: Small, Color: Black
I researched for several tuxedos for my son's prom, we chose this one, and I'm very glad that we did! The fit is nice, the durability is great. Very classy looking! The quality is really surprising for this price, it looks like a $200 dollar suit. My son is very picky and was very pleased with this tuxedo. The seams are very good and all the buttons are correct. We did receive the tie and everything that was supposed to be with it as I know reviews were saying they didn't get certain things but we did. I really like the adjustable waste because my son is very slim, but tall and has a long torso. This Tuxedo allowed him to be super excited that we have everything we need for his first prom! True to color as we purchased the black and it is sharp!

Impressive suit for the price
Size: X-Large, Color: Navy Blue
Order suit in my normal size (44R) and it fit perfectly. I’m 6’1” and the pant length set at the correct level. Quality fabric and stitching is well finished. Pants are comfortable at the waist with enough flex to be forgiving. Very good deal for the price…suit, vest and tie.

Great for tall, slender teenager!
Size: Small, Color: Light Grey, Size: Small, Color: Light Grey
Finding a suit for a tall, slender teenage boy is about as hard as climbing Mt. Everest. Until I found this one!! I was so pleasantly surprised that this suit fit my 15 year old son like a glove. He is 5'10'' and 140 lbs so he needs pants with the proper length and smaller waist. While the waist was slightly big, he didn't need a belt and the pants fell perfectly with a pair of Nike tennis shoes. I ordered a size small and would say the pants were a 32x32 but waist was probably more like a 31. Jacket and vest were a great fit as well. High quality and easy to steam to get the shipping wrinkles out.
