The Tamiya 1/35 West German Leopard Tank (35064) reproduces the original Leopard 1 — West Germany's first post-war indigenous main battle tank, which entered service with the Bundeswehr in 1965 and went on to serve in over a dozen nations. The Leopard 1 prioritised mobility and firepower over armour, pairing the proven British 105mm L7 gun with a powerful MTU engine that gave it outstanding cross-country agility. It formed the backbone of NATO's armoured forces on the Central Front throughout the 1970s.
Tamiya's classic 1/35 kit captures the early Leopard 1's characteristic rounded cast turret and elegant hull design.
Kit highlights:
- Accurate early Leopard 1 with cast turret and 105mm L7 gun
- Classic Bundeswehr olive drab scheme and NATO marking options
- Elegant German hull design with detailed running gear
- The original Leopard — a milestone in post-war European armour design
- Complements Tamiya's Leopard 1A4 and Leopard 2 range
Please note: Cement and paints required, sold separately.
