Herman Bavinck looms large as one of the nineteenth century's greatest Christian thinkers, contributing much to modern Reformed theology. Yet, despite his theological prowess, Bavinck was first and foremost concerned with being “a worthy follower of Jesus.” In this book, John Bolt—editor of the English edition of Bavinck’s four-volume masterpiece, Reformed Dogmatics—brings the great Dutch theologian’s life and work to bear on following Jesus in the twenty-first century, helping us see the direct connection between robust theology, practical holiness, and personal joy.

______________

John Bolt (PhD, University of St. Michael’s College) is professor of systematic theology at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the author and editor of several books. John and his wife, Ruth, have three children and nine grandchildren

______________

“This obvious labor of love explores an important but insufficiently highlighted aspect of Bavinck’s thought. Leaving virtually no pertinent stone unturned throughout his life and published works, Bolt provides both a full presentation of Bavinck’s views and his own understanding of their continuing relevance for Christian discipleship today. Here is valuable instruction in Bavinck’s thought presented in a way that will also stimulate the reader’s own thinking on the issues raised.” Richard B. Gaffin Jr., Professor Emeritus of Biblical and Systematic Theology, Westminster Theological Seminary

Definitely Recommend
Format: Paperback
This book is very helpful and I definitely recommend it as a resource. It simplifies complex concepts and is organized by body system. It highlights the major health conditions in each body system and provides a simple and concise explanation. At the end of every concept a mini quiz is offered to test comprehension. I’ve found this book very useful during the semester and I’m sure I’ll find it helpful for boards.

It's good but Leik is better
Format: Paperback
This is a fairly good review book for the FNP exam and I've had professors recommend it's use. However, the review book by Leik is better in that it delivers information in a short-and-sweet way that still covers the most crucial information. Fitzgerald requires a little more reading and unfortunately I just don't have the attention span for that anymore. I need short paragraphs, bullet points, and the most crucial information that will give me success for the FNP exam and Leik provides that a little more than this.
