What does it mean to be a Baptist? Though ideas abound, we must go to the one man for a sure answer, John Quincy Adams. For with unashamed boldness and clarity, Adams articulates the fundamental distinctives of the Baptist faith. These fundamentals include the importance of sola Scriptura, believer’s baptism, the separation of the church and state, equality of the saints, and liberty of conscience. Even C. H. Spurgeon, calling it “the best Manual of Baptist principles he had met,” included the text in his Pastor’s College curriculum. First published in 1858 and reprinted multiple times since, this work has become a classic tome on Baptist principles. And 150 years later, we too, affirming the testimony of Spurgeon and countless others, are happy to release this updated edition of Baptists: The Only Thorough Religious Reformers as the first volume in our Baptist Reprints series.

______________

John Quincy Adams who wrote Baptists: The Only Thorough Religious Reformers is not to be confused with the early American president, one of the nation’s founding fathers. Rather, this one by the same name was a Baptist pastor in the United States and a contemporary of C. H. Spurgeon. After years of correspondence, he and Spurgeon finally met in 1868 in London, and Spurgeon informed Adams that he had used his book about the Baptists as a text in the Pastor’s College at Metropolitan Tabernacle.

______________

‘For a foundational understanding of Baptist principles and beliefs, one couldn't do much better than this small volume by John Quincy Adams, the pastor, not the President. That Spurgeon himself felt likewise is an added endorsement.’ Unnamed source

Nice shirt!
Fit Type: Regular Fit, Color: White, Size: X-Large
I added one of these shirts to another order just to see if they were any good. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. It fits perfectly and looks pretty nice for a low cost casual dress shirt. Materials seem decent quality. Comfortable, soft fabric. Didn’t shrink too much in the washer and dryer. We’ll see how it holds up long term but so far so good

My new favorite shirts!
Fit Type: Regular Fit, Color: Grey, Size: Large
These are my new favorite shirts! I just ordered a 3rd. i wish there were more colors. Yes, the cotton is heavy-weight and I like that. They are just a bit warmer than regular dress shirts. The fit is excellent. I'm 5'9", 200lbs and L fits perfectly. Enough room without being blousy. The sleeves are long enough (finally!). (Most other 16.5/32-33 shirts always have sleeves that are too short). The fit/finish and detail is surprisingly good. They don't really shrink after washing and come out very soft. Not wrinkle-free, but that's ok since it means that the 100% cotton hasn't been dosed with chemicals. I expect they will wear very well over time.

Excellent value and has saved me from the sun!
Fit Type: Regular Fit, Color: White, Size: Large
I ordered this large mans shirt because it was 100% cotton and long sleeve. I am a woman and use it to protect myself from the sun walking my dog, very stiff at first, but comes out with several washes. I love the shirt!
