Light: Polaskia chichipe cristata thrives in bright light and will be happiest in a sunny spot with plenty of indirect sunlight. It can tolerate some direct sun, especially morning or late afternoon light, but should be introduced gradually to avoid sun scorch. In lower light, growth will slow and the cresting may become less pronounced.

Water: Like most cacti, this plant prefers infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, then water thoroughly and let excess drain away. During the growing season (spring and summer), this may mean watering every 2–4 weeks. In autumn and winter, reduce watering significantly—sometimes as little as once every 4–6 weeks.
