In Module 3 your child will be adding extra consonants to words and starting to read and spell words containing 4, 5 and 6 sounds. The focus is on adding consonants to the three syllable types mastered already in the Read3 program - closed syllables, open syllables and 'silent e'.  They will learn to read longer 2-syllables words and will continue to add endings such as s/es, ed, er and ing. Tricky spelling patterns like 'tch' and 'dge' are also covered in this module.

Read3 integrates systematic synthetic phonics instruction with targeted phonemic awareness and fluency training to build a strong reading foundation for your child. We use fun, multi-sensory activities and games to keep your child motivated and engaged.

For reading outcomes, a minimum of 5 sessions per week (20 minutes per session) is recommended. Children should then apply this learning for an additional 10 minutes a day using decodable readers. Progress should be monitored daily to determine when your child is ready to move to the next step.

Estimated time to complete Module 3 is 2-3 months (remember, mastery is the aim and every child is different).

IMPORTANT: By purchasing this product you agree to our Terms of Service. You will receive a Parent/Carer contract that is to be signed and returned. Failure to sign the contract will result in your access being paused.

Content overview for Complete Module 3

There are 2 Steps in Module 3. These are:

  • Step 1 : adding consonants to single-syllable words containing short vowel sounds. Lesson 1 adds consonants to the rime ending (list, camp, walk). Lesson 2 adds consonant to the onset (plan, grip, black). Lesson 3 adds consonants to the onset and rime (clamp, plant, strength). Your child will now be able to read words containing 4, 5 and 6 sounds. Extension activities include the 'tch' spelling pattern (match, clutch) and triple blends (string, scrap).
  • Step 2 adding consonants to words containing long vowel sounds. This includes both single and multi-syllable words. The focus is on the long vowel syllable types already mastered in Module 2 (open and silent e). Your child will also start reading and writing 2-syllable words containing consonant blends. Extension activities include 'dge', 'nge' and 'nce' spelling patterns.

The program steps are sequential and skills build throughout the module. As a general guide, within each step your child will:

  • practise unique reading and spelling strategies designed to support children with multiple processing difficulties
  • fine-tune listening skills by identifying, deleting and/or substituting sounds in longer words
  • start reading words containing 4, 5 and 6 sounds
  • write sentences containing longer words from three syllable types
  • build automatic recall of sound segments that occur naturally in our language and link them to spelling patterns for efficient reading and spelling recall
  • build a bank of high-frequency words linked to lesson content

Developed by experienced Speech Pathologist Robyn Monaghan, the strategies have proven effective when teaching children with multiple processing difficulties including: poor phonological awareness, poor working memory, poor letter-sound knowledge and poor rapid automatic naming. Learn more about Read3

Replacement stickers are on the way!!
Color: silver, Color: silver
Edit: Customer service was lovely and I have replacement stickers on the way. This fabulous product has helped me so much and I can't be without it. Back up to a 5 star review. I purchased this product in April 2024. The stickers that help the laptop 'grab' onto the stand are either gone or unstable. See picture below. Can it be repaired with new stickers? How do I get them?

Sixty Bucks? Yep. And I'd buy another one.
Color: silver
OK, I had my doubts. Yes, the iLevel2 is highly-reviewed. And yes, it's really (really) important to have your laptop screen at eye level (get it? iLevel?) But spending 60 dollars on an adjustable laptop stand? Couldn't I just pile up a couple of old books for free? Well, as a contractor once told me when I made a really dumb suggestion, "You COULD do it that way..." The iLevel2's main virtue is that the angle/height adjustment knob is rock-solid, as is the platform. It's just an extremely well-made, solid product. And the adjustment knob, which is on a left-right track on the front of the product, allows you to dial in your laptop's screen height to the millimeter. Result: a totally-custom, ergonomically-friendly setup. Love it.

Underwhelming
Color: silver
Too much hype. It just holds the laptop. Buy something cheaper. The slide adjuster isn’t useful to me at all.

Useful but not perfect
Color: silver
Useful, but typing with laptop perched on it is unsteady. I use a separate keyboard.

Why are people trying to type on a laptop stand?
Color: silver
So the overwhelmingly negative reviews you'll notice for this product specifically surround the "bounciness" of this stand when someone is typing on it—however what is confusing to me is how people are purchasing a laptop stand in theory to optimize their ergonomics, yet also stretching their arms out and elevating them to type on said laptop once it's raised. the point of a laptop riser/stand is to elevate the screen so that you can maintain a more natural posture. One would assume you have an external keyboard to use in conjunction with your laptop once you place it on a RISER, because the idea is to elevate your laptop as a SCREEN and then have a level/flat surface to type on, thereby alleviating any awkward hunching or neck strain looking down or anywhere not naturally eye-level. as it is, it's a perfectly functional and elegant laptop riser. I don't find myself wanting to adjust the height often if ever, but in the one or two instances I experimented with it, found no mechanical issues. It looks nice with Apple hardware and allows me to have my laptop's screen flush with the bottom edge of my additional external monitor, so it serves my purposes well. for people complaining about how it bounces when they type on it ... STOP typing on your laptop's keyboard when you have it elevated on a riser! this defeats the purpose and probably also makes your arms tired—buy an external keyboard!
