The factory Ford 4R100 suffers from weak points in the converter, clutch pack assemblies, valve body and line pressure limitations. These weaknesses arise when the motors power is increased or in towing applications. ATS addressed these concerns by re-designing the torque converter, transmission pump, valve body and clutch packs. The result is a solid transmission setup to meet the demands of your Ford Super Duty. The ATS Stage 2 4R100

Features:

  • ATS Five Star Torque Converter featuring a billet cover, five lock-up clutches, billet stator and a furnace-brazed impeller
  • ATS Billet Input Shaft
  • Modified transmission pump for increased line pressure
  • High performance clutch packs with more clutches than stock
  • Re-designed accumulator pistons for a precise shift feel

ATS Deep Transmission Pan that adds 5 quarts of fluid, featuring a finned design, magnetic drain plug and is tapped for a temperature probe. By increasing the line pressure, clutch pack surface area and modifying the valve body, the 4R100 becomes a consistent, responsive and dependable transmission.

The Stage 2 adds a billet 300M input shaft. As power increases over 400hp, or considerable weight will be towed, the input shaft takes the brunt of it. The ATS input shaft is designed to withstand extreme torque, converter lock-up sooner than stock, and competition and towing use. The ATS Stage 2 4R100 is designed for trucks that see daily driving and towing duties, aggressive tuning, and a modified turbo and/or injectors. ATS transmissions are backed by a 5 year / 500,000 mile warranty regardless of power level or use.

Good in theory, but didn’t fully deliver

My dog falls right on the size cutoff between the small and large Pupsicle. I initially ordered the large since he’s a strong chewer, but he had trouble getting everything out, so I ended up trying the small as well. There are definitely some positives. I think the design is better than a Kong. It stays upright, which makes it less messy. I also really like the mold for making the inserts, instead of having to fill the toy itself and freeze it. That said, there are two major design issues that impacted my experience. First, the all-rubber construction creates a lot of friction when screwing the bottom into the base, especially after repeated use. It gradually became harder to open, to the point where I was using coconut or avocado oil to try to loosen the threads. At one point I even needed a wrench and pliers just to get a better grip. Second, while it’s marketed as dishwasher safe (which I was excited about for cleaning), it seems to dry out the rubber and makes the threading issue worse over time. Unfortunately, mine is now permanently stuck shut and no longer usable. Overall, I like the concept, but the durability and usability issues make this a 3-star product for me. I’d recommend it with caution, especially if you plan to wash it frequently.

It fits in my freezer perfectly and also is soft but firm so I do not have to worry about my dog hurting his teeth. My dogs love these! This gives them a dedicated 20-40min of dog joy. They often get up halfway thru and switch but whatever makes them happy. They do get STUCK! And can be impossible to open. I now use a dot of olive oil on each level of the screw and then twist it in and out a couple times to distribute the lube so its possible to open when they are done. I find it very important to collect them immediately when they are done and open back up for cleaning. Do not let them dry as it will be very difficult to open.

These are must haves for dog owners!

These things have saved my sanity! I have two dogs and we use these at least two to three times per week. They are high quality and last thru heavy chewers. We spread peanut butter inside for a quick treat when clipping nails, or make our own mix of Greek yogurt, dry oatmeal, diced carrots, a little pumpkin, and a bit of diced apple, mix it up and freeze it in the Pupsicle mold. That way we have a bunch ready to go and aren’t buying expensive refills. The colors are adorable, the pupsicle is durable, and the dogs LOVE them. FYI - it’s a good idea to use a little olive or avalado oil on the threads when closing them up - it makes life so much easier when screwing then on and off. We throw ours into the dishwasher.
