Alocasia Longiloba ‘Purple Prince’ – Regal, Exotic, Striking
The arrow-shaped foliage, the regal white accents, the glossy dark green tops, the vivid purple undersides… The Alocasia Longiloba, also known as the Purple Prince or the Purple Prince Elephant Ear, is the perfect potted pal to take home!
Plant Personality & Aesthetic Appeal
The Alocasia Longiloba ‘Purple Prince’ features large arrow-shaped leaves up to 60 cm long. You can notice their glossy greenness accented by white veins. They also have deep purply undersides, the color of royalty. A rare plant, the Purple Prince can add a touch of elegance to tropical and minimalist spaces. It’s a beautiful plant that allows for versatility when you have decorating in mind. Any plant enthusiast will adore the addition of this plant to their indoor spaces.
Growth Habit & Size Potential
When grown indoors, the Purple Prince reaches 60–90 cm in height and spread. If the leaves are larger and are starting to weigh it down, a stake can provide much-needed support. Its moderate growth rate produces new leaves every 4 to 6 weeks during spring and summer. A 15 cm pot suits young plants, but a bigger pot may be ideal for root expansion, say a pot size of 20 cm. Keeping your Purple Prince in kingly floor vases, side tables, or low plant stands might be a good idea to showcase its elegance.
Light & Location Needs
The Purple Prince thrives in bright, indirect light. God forbid a royal get a little sun, eh? We’re just kidding. But keep in mind that it tolerates brief morning or late-afternoon sun, which intensifies the purple leaf undersides. In lower light, you might notice that the leaves lose its white accents and the plant grows slower than usual. Do avoid direct midday rays to prevent leaf scorch and rotate monthly to ensure even development and maintain its striking color contrast.
Care Level & Maintenance Tips
The Purple Prince Elephant Ear requires moderate care. Water when the top 2 to 3 cm of soil dries, which would probably be weekly. Any excess water must be drained to avoid root rot. This plant likes a well-draining mix of peat, perlite, and orchid bark in a pot with drainage holes. You can feed the Alocasia Longiloba monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Now, let’s talk humidity. This plant prefers 50–60% ambient humidity to keep foliage healthy and vibrant. Do take note that the Purple Prince contains calcium oxalate crystals, which is toxic if ingested by pets or children.
Purple Reigns With the Purple Prince
The Alocasia Longiloba’s lush, sculptural form fosters mental calm, helping reduce stress and boost focus. Interacting with its vibrant foliage delivers proven mood-lifting effects and enhances creativity. Seasoned plant parents would love the challenge the Purple Prince gives them and feel a sense of accomplishment when their plants thrive. Its presence in bedrooms can promote a tranquil atmosphere, aiding relaxation before sleep. Place this exotic beauty wherever you need an uplifting ambience. Green is serene, after all.

Works great and is affordable!
Color: Black
Works great! The magnet it comes with is quite weak. But the tool itself works great.

No gimmicks, just a solid WDT tool
Color: Metal Black
This is the second Aieve product I’ve purchased, after a very good experience with their XL espresso cooling ball. This WDT tool isn’t flashy, it doesn’t look like a praying mantis or deploy like a switchblade; but it does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
The tool sits in a nicely weighted base that protects the needles from bending, which is a big improvement over the magnetic “floating” styles. The base has enough weight to stay put, and it’s easy to remove and return the tool without it tipping or sliding around. The base itself fits nicely in my tamping station.
It also comes with replacement needles, which are simple to swap out when needed.
If you’ve been going down the rabbit hole comparing every WDT tool out there, this is a straightforward, well-designed option at a very reasonable price.

Solid 4mm WDT tool with a solid stand and a magnet option for some machines.
Color: Black
Solid WDT tool with good hand feel and convenient counter top stand. 4mm needles and it works fine. 10 of these 4mm needles adequately stir the espresso in the portafilter. No real complaints about build quality. I attached the included magnet. There are many people who have identified that the magnet is not strong. This is true but it depends on the materials on your espresso machine or grinder. On stainless steel units (unpainted or thinly painted) it has good adhesion. On units that might have used thick paint ( which shouldn't be compromised) it may not stick well. So I took a star off--I do have a stainless steel Espresso machine and it sticks fine. It also stuck ok to my refrigerator , microwave and airfryer. If your espresso station is near other appliances---well there you go--also it does show that it "can stick" to fairly common other magnetic materials. My refrigerator is coated in white . I was going to simply buy acupuncture needles, a wine cork and make one of these but add those costs together and heck $9 for this unit with a stand was a great deal.

Color: Black
It’s a cheap tool but can actually make an impact on the coffee. Been using for a few months and still works great.

Great purchase!
Color: Black
I’ve been using the Aieve WDT Tool for a bit now, and overall I really like it. There was definitely a learning curve at first. It took me a little time to figure out how to use it in a way that actually improved my puck prep instead of just stirring the grounds around. Once I slowed down and found a consistent motion that worked for me, I really started to see the difference in distribution.
Build-wise, I know some people have mentioned the stand falling off. Personally, I haven’t had any real issues with it unless I’m the one who bumps it and sends it flying. If it’s staying put and I’m not being clumsy, it’s fine.
I’m using the magnet side to stick it right to my Breville, which has been super convenient. It keeps everything within reach and makes my workflow smoother. For the price, it’s been a solid addition to my espresso setup, especially now that I’m getting the hang of it.
