Belief in God and in the concept of immortality are vanishing from the consciousness of people living in materialistic, so-called developed societies. Yet many are experiencing an emptiness and lack of meaning, and many consciously avoid thinking about their own death, a decision which fills the emptiness with fear. For how we view death is important, profoundly influencing how we live.
