This unit has been refurbished and had the following work done to it, requiring 11 hours of highly skilled vintage tech time plus parts costs to make this unit better and probably more costly than others on the market.
-Cleaned unit inside and out.
-Replaced all tact switches with new ones so all buttons work reliably, with a light touch.
-Replaced original display with a new one that's easier to read under all lighting.
-Replaced original slide pot with a perfectly working new one.
-Cleaned rotary pots.
-Replaced battery with a new one.
-Recapped power supply as a preventative measure so this unit hopefully outlasts others.
-Replaced terminals for ground wire (x8) PT (x5) (Another preventative measure)
-Cleaned key contacts.
-Replaced aftertouch sensor with new one, which is usually necessary.
-Performed multiple burn in tests.
-Verified that all functions are working properly.
The Prophet VS is well-loved by many for its beautiful evolving digital tones. It contains many interesting digital synth waveforms and allows the user to crossfade between 4 of them at a time using the built in joystick. You can get some terrific sounds out of the VS which you can't get out of any other vintage synth. From the classic late 80s digital synthpop sounds to crazy modern glitchy ones. The VS has a really useful feature that automatically generates random patches. This model combines unique digital oscillators with warm analog filters and a massive unison mode. Great for ambient or new age music, smooth jazz, techno, synthpop and you name it. We like it best for pads, strings, strange morphings sounds and sharp bass.
Famous users include Jay Wires, Erasure, Nine Inch Nails (NIN), Brian Eno, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, John Carpenter and many others.
