Publisher Marketing:
Fashion that was in vogue in the East was highly desirable to pioneers during the frontier period of the American West. It was also extraordinarily difficult to obtain, often impractical, and sometimes the clothing was just not durable enough for the men and women who were forging new homes for themselves in the West. Full hoopskirts were of little use in a soddy on the prairie, and chaps and spurs were a vital part of the cowboy's equipment.

In this book, author Chris Enss examines the fashion that shaped the frontier through short essays; brief clips from letters, magazines, and other period sources; and period illustrations demonstrating the sometimes bizarre, often beautiful, and frequently highly inventive ways of dressing oneself in the Old West.

Back of book:
Did you know that pioneer women sewed lead in their hems to keep their dresses from billowing on the trail? Or that hatless men had to wear bonnets to protect their eyes from the scorching sun?

From old familiar Levi's to the short-lived "instant dress elevator," How the West Was Worn examines the sometimes bizarre, often beautiful, and highly inventive clothing of the Old West. You'll learn how a cowboy's home state determined the way he wore his pants and hat, as well as how to distinguish one Indian tribe from another by their moccasins. Meet John B. Stetson, leading maker of cowboy hats; Adah Menken, whose flesh-colored nylon costume left an audience gaping at her underwear; and Amelia Jenks Bloomer, the promoter of - you guessed it - the bloomer.

Toy provides much fun and hilarity, seam rips.
Size: 20 x 4 x 4 in, Pattern Name: Eggplant, Size: 20 x 4 x 4 in, Pattern Name: Eggplant
So, I kind of bought this on a whim. But our dogs absolutely love this toy, and it provides many moments of hilarity as watching our medium sized dogs tote this giant toy around, whipping it back and forth, hitting themselves with it, is constant entertainment. The squeaker is still working nearly 6 months later, which is amazing. I only took off one star because I have had to perform surgery on this toy multiple times due to the seam coming open, letting the stuffing out, which is a major issue. I have to take it away from them (which they hate) then find time to sew it up until the next spot opens up. If I was smart, I'd just have reinforced the entire seam the first time, but no one said I was smart.

Our Dog absolutely loves this little toy. Have a stock pile because, like all dog toys, they need replacing.

Cute but red fur does chew off 😜
Size: 20 x 4 x 4 in, Pattern Name: Pepper
My dog loves this hot pepper. It's our 2nd but the red fur does come off so don't leave your pet unattended with it for an extended amount of time.

Doberman of the Corn: The Movie
Size: One Size, Pattern Name: Corn, Size: One Size, Pattern Name: Corn
My Doberman Godzilla loves this corn. She loves it with every fiber of her being and soul. She is spoiled rotten and has more toys than most children (mostly because if a Doberman does not have things to be entertained by, they will invent their own entertainment that involves the destruction of your home.) She destroyed her first corn plush after about a year. There was some kind of diva like fit and her original corn was in tiny pieces. She was subsequently despondent like a Victorian on a fainting couch so I had to find an emergency corn replacement here on Amazon. I have no idea who the buyer for Amazon is and what made them say: “Oh yes, we MUST sell a big corn plushie for dogs” but I am grateful as hell to the way their possibly deranged mind thinks. Because that person and my Doberman think exactly alike.
