NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From the renowned paleontologist and bestselling author of The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, a sweeping evolutionary history of birds, from their dinosaur origins to the 10,000+ extraordinary species alive today.

Tens of billions of birds share the planet with us, an astonishingly diverse array of species that are present nearly everywhere humans call home--and many places we do not. With their flamboyant plumage, joyous dawn serenades, extraordinary aerial feats, they have captivated human imagination for millennia. Undeniably delicate creatures with hollow bones and thin skin protected by downy feathers, how did such a seemingly fragile species break the bounds of Earth and begin to fly, how have they survived millennia, and how does their legacy shape our world?

Hailed as "one of the stars of modern paleontology" (National Geographic), Steve Brusatte now tells the extraordinary story of the dinosaurs' living legacy: birds. He begins by exploring how dinosaurs gradually developed the trademark features of birds one-by-one--feathers, wings, beaks, big brains, keen senses, and warm-blooded metabolisms. He investigates why birds were the only dinosaurs to survive the cataclysmic asteroid impact 66 million years ago and chronicles how these survivors rapidly proliferated to produce the diversity of avian species we know today.

Along the way, we meet a variety of remarkable - now extinct - species:

  • 10-foot-tall terror birds with beaks that sliced flesh
  • Elephant birds that lived on Madagascar and laid eggs the size of footballs
  • Pelagornithid seabirds with 20-foot wingspans
  • A ferocious Jamaican ibis that used its wings as clubs to attack rivals

Yet, Brusatte also urges us to appreciate the extraordinariness of birds alive today - penguins that literally fly underwater, parrots that can mimic human speech and crows that can make tools and are smarter than most mammals.

A fascinating scientific history that unearths the origins of birds, The Story of Birds establishes the living legacy of this remarkable species.

Excellent Cigar Tube!
Color: RYLCC-BLK
This impressive cigar carrier is a complete and safe way to carry one cigar. This holder is light aluminum; you can throw it in a range bag, backpack, or any other carrier without worry. This carrier has a punch for your cigar and a built-in cigar stand. I love my cigar carrier; I have just enough capacity to enjoy my cigar.

Picture is misleading
Color: RYLCC-BLK
Great product! Good quality! The picture of the product is a little misleading as it looks like there are 2 tubes instead of one.

Perfect sized wrist-rest!
Size: Compact, Size: Compact
Great wrist-rest! Very squishy and feels comfortable & cool even after hours at the computer. The rubber gripper bottom is effective & it never shifts around for me. Also, love that it fits the length of my 75% keyboard & my boyfriends 60% Wooting 60HE keyboard perfectly

Very Pleased!

Review for: Cooling Gel Wrist Rest Pad -Full Size 18"- Memory Foam Palm Rest with Non-Slip Footpad - Ergonomic Design Wrist Support - Desk Keyboard Accessory Gaming Gear (Large-Full Size). I've had this for a week and I'm impressed! There is no skimping on quality, which is rare nowadays. It is made extremely well, solid yet soft. I love the feel of the outer cover. It's comfortable and stays in place. And let me add... I'm putting it to the test. I have a rolling over-bed/couch desk. It has a raised 1/4" lip around the top. I put this wrist-rest on top of that lip. So far there's not any wear across the bottom of this wrist-rest. And that's with me using it for my wrists... and my elbows. It far surpasses the last rest I bought. From my experience, many sellers slap the phrase "memory foam" on their products when they are not. That's NOT the case here. This rest immediately bounces back to its original shape. It's true memory foam! It's so comfortable that I forget it's there yet I enjoy the comfort immensely. Also, it has no smell. ***From my experience so far... I highly recommend this product!

Comfortable and functional, but beware of cardboard/mdf insert
Size: Compact
I’ve been using this wrist rest for a bit now, and for the most part, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It provides a comfortable amount of support for my wrists during long typing sessions, and the cooling gel aspect is definitely a nice touch that adds to the overall comfort. That said, there are a couple of drawbacks to keep in mind. The surface seems to attract dirt and grime pretty quickly, so you’ll need to wipe it down often to keep it looking clean. More importantly, the build quality of the base is disappointing. I believe its a cardboard inserted into the bottom, which snapped very easily when I was just barely bending it while cleaning it. It’s a shame because the rest of the product is great, but I really wish they had used a more rigid, durable material for the bottom instead of whatever this cardboard/mdf is. This is why I’m giving it 4 stars.
