Growing Soraya Sunflower Garden Seeds

  • Taxonomy: Helianthus annuus
  • Seed Type: Annual
  • Sow Indoors or Outdoors: Sunflowers generally grow so hardy and vigorously that there is little reason to start seeds indoors. Sow directly after final frost in a sunny spot at the north end of the garden and shelter from strong winds. However, for early spring blooming, start Soraya seeds indoors 3 – 4 weeks prior. Seeds will take 7 – 14 days for germination. Early plants may need staking in addition to wind protection, but plant will branch out as it matures.
  • Days to Maturity: 90 – 110 days
  • Hardiness Zone: 2 – 10
  • Planting Depth: Plant 2 – 3 seeds ½" deep
  • Plant Spacing: 18 – 24"
  • Growth Habit: 60 – 72” tall branching upright with 18 – 24” spread and 4 – 6” blooms
  • Soil Preference: Average, loamy, well-drained
  • Light Preference: Full sun
  • Diseases/Pests/Troubleshooting: Plants are heat and drought tolerant, but susceptible to mold and mildew in poorly-drained soil. Adjust staking and wind protection as plants mature. Trim back branches to shape and keep Soraya sunflower from becoming weedy and invasive. Monitor regularly for foliage-eating caterpillars and beetles, but Soraya sunflowers have no serious pests or diseases.
  • Color: Pumpkin golden yellow petals with a chocolate-seeded center

Not for dogs that chew/ Update Seller Stands Behind their Product
Color: Con Leche
My 15 pound cavalier spaniel was in love with this toy, but it only took her about an hour to rip the end of it off and expose the contents. We had to take it away from her to prevent her from eating the inside. It might be good for a dog who only wants to play tug-of-war and not chew -wanted to send it back, but it was destroyed so we threw it in the trash. / As a update, I should have read the reviews and this is not for heavy chewers, I will say the seller was awesome and compensated me for this, thank you Olly!

Dog loves it.
Color: Con Leche
I use this tugger for training only. I use it to ween off treats as a reward as a playful tool. He associates it with this and this way it retains high value.

Nice appearance, lacks sturdiness in the long run
Color: Raven
Decent quality on the surface, but likely to eventually break down with aggressive tuggers or strong jawed dogs. Best for medium drive pups at best.

does not last for a chew toy
Color: Raven
did not take very long for the dog to chew this up. Even wrote to Olly Dog about the toy and never heard back from them.
