The Ross Evolution LTX is the reel that redefined what a modern trout reel could be. Building on the legendary Evolution series that set the standard for a generation of anglers, the award-winning LTX delivers the perfect combination of original Evolution LT feel and Evolution R performance — in a lightweight, meticulously machined package built to last a lifetime.
At the heart of the LTX is a dramatically upgraded drag system based on the engineered stacked-disc system found in the Evolution R. With over four times the drag strength of its predecessor, the LTX retains the smooth sound and feel that made the Evolution an icon while delivering the stopping power to handle not just trout but serious saltwater species like Redfish, Bonefish, and Snook. This is a reel equally at home on a western river as it is on the flats.
The large arbor spool features an innovative line channel that cleanly hides arbor knots when winding on backing — a small but brilliant detail. Ross Reels' signature bell-shaped arbor design adds structural strength while helping to self-level fly line across the spool face during retrieval. The handle is machined from canvas phenolic rod — a Ross Reels innovation — reducing weight, adding durability, and increasing grip when your hands are wet.
Frame and spool are machined from a 6061-T6 proprietary aluminum alloy specifically engineered for Ross Reels, rotating on an oil-impregnated bronze bushing and stainless steel spindle. Hard anodized finish delivers the perfect balance of durability and color.
