Lucía is part of an interdisciplinary research team focused in studying human behavior, its motivations, and consequences. Gabriel, head of the team, has convinced them to goto the South border andstudy the case of a murdered twelve-year-old girl, stabbed by her cousin of the same age and the friend/boyfriend of them both, in the presence of two young witnesses, one eight and the other ten years of age. They find the case fascinatingfor several reasons, and they feel their research might make a difference.When they just begun approaching the parents, interviewing the kids, and interchanging theories, Gabriel dies in a car crash. After his death, Lucía discovers some dark secretspertaining this scientist, friend, protector, and mentor, making her believe the Gabriel she thought she knew never truly existed.
