A beautiful, thickly-piled, aged Turkish Prayer rug woven in the Konya region of Central Anatolia, Turkey over 100 years ago. With a rug weaving history which predates the Ottoman period, Konya is one of the richest textile production centres in Turkey and one which, due to the suitability of the surrounding terrain for sheep raising, produces some of the best wool in Anatolia. This delightful Tribal Prayer rug is woven of 100 % wool pile on wool warp and weft. The natural dyes, obtained from the vegetation particular to this geographic area, have mellowed over time and, whilst still very glossy, the beautiful abrashes (shading) of the reds and browns are a feature of this rug.
