The AGM NVG-50 is a dual-channel night vision system. The NVG-50 uses optics that provide a wider 51° field of view, at the expense of reduced eye relief. The NVG is built with a compact composite housing for increased durability and features advanced multi-coated optics. The device can be equipped with a high-performance Gen 2+ or Gen 3 Image Intensifier Tube (IIT). The bright light cut-off function ensures protection of the high-quality photocathode tube. The NVG is also equipped with Manual Gain Control, which adjusts image brightness, providing maximum image quality even in changing light conditions. It operates on a single AA alkaline battery or a CR123A battery and can run for up to 20 hours. It is also equipped with an integrated infrared illuminator for reading in the dark.

For hands-free use, the NVG can be mounted on various brackets, such as AN/PVS-7D, AN/PVS-14, AN/PVS-7A/C, AN/PVS-15, and AN/PVS-18 mounts, or on mounts with a mini rail interface.
