The Yamaha PTX 8 is a rare vintage rackmount percussion module from 1986, developed for Yamaha’s D8 drum kit. It features 8‑voice sample‑based tone generation (12‑bit companded PCM) with 8 individual pad inputs plus full MIDI control for playing via controllers or sequencers. This unit offers up to 64 editable voices, 32 internal + 32 cartridge‑based kits, and chain memory for triggering kit sequences. Audio outputs include stereo mix plus 8 individual outputs for separate sound routing. Includes real-time voice editing (pitch, volume, reverse, envelope), sensitivity curves, footswitch chaining, and a 2-line backlit LCD display.

Physically this unit is in good condition. It shows a some general wear from use and age like some marks, nicks and scratches. One rack ear is a little bent. Please see photos.

This unit has had a new memory battery installed for the convenience of the new owner.
- All switches and controls function as they should. The machine has been tested and is sounding great. It has no faults to note.
