‘Black Munger’ is a celebrated black raspberry variety known for its rich flavor, glossy dark fruit, and exceptional performance in both home gardens and commercial plantings. This mid-season bearer produces large, firm, plump berries that are not overly seedy, making them ideal for fresh eating as well as for high-quality preserves, jams, and jellies. Plants thrive in full sun and well-draining soil enriched with organic matter, where consistent moisture and mulching help maintain root health, suppress weeds, and support steady fruit development. With proper care, Munger provides dependable yields and robust growth throughout the season.
Stout, resilient canes distinguish ‘Black Munger’ from many other black raspberry cultivars. Their natural vigor is paired with notable resistance to common fungal diseases, making this variety especially well suited for organic and low-input growing systems. Highly regarded in the Pacific Northwest for both commercial and home garden production, Munger remains a top choice for gardeners seeking hardy plants, consistent performance, and excellent berry quality. Developed in Ohio, this durable and adaptable variety rewards growers with flavor-rich harvests perfect for seasonal snacking or preserving.
