Fischer & Fischer SN170   2-Way Single Wired Floorstanding Loudspeaker

A loudspeaker cabinet performs a number of vital functions. Aside from housing the drive units, the cabinet needs to vibrate as little as possible because vibration interacts with the frequencies produced by the drivers, often depleting the loudspeaker of energy. The vibrations caused by cabinets often add colourations and distortions to the sound. This is why many high-end loudspeaker manufacturers go to great effort to engineer internal bracing technologies or experiment with different materials to reduce the effect of cabinet resonances. Building loudspeakers with natural slate cabinets is a very logical solution. Due to its flaky, layered structure, its negligible re-sounding or re-echoing qualities and its extremely high mass, the material boasts extraordinary acoustic properties. In slate cabinets, the entire energy of the loudspeaker is available to incite the surrounding air.

The improvements that this approach makes to the sound quality is significant. In particular, the dynamics and coherency of the sonic picture is enhanced and the bass response is cleaner, more articulate and tuneful. The energy balance of natural slate is not only superior in the bass range. In the high frequency range, the extreme mass reactance of the material ensures that the membranes vibrating as a result of sound amplitudes are not offset by resonating baffles. This feature generates a music fidelity essentially richer in nuances and with greater detail than usual.

There are aesthetic benefits too. Using slate makes it possible to make the cabinets smaller so that the loudspeakers can fit into moderately sized living spaces and the slate has an elegant, luxurious, high quality, timeless aesthetic which gives it a real high-end speaker presence.

The Fischer & Fischer SN170 is an elegant compact floor standing loudspeaker which defies expectations. The slate cabinet and advanced driver technology produce a sound quality well beyond what is considered normal for speakers at this level. It is ideal for smaller to medium sized rooms, for spaces where a larger speaker is not suitable or for music enthusiasts who are simply downsizing their systems but still want to maintain high levels of quality.

When looking for a floor standing speaker at this level, we are often presented with choices which consist mostly of heavily marketed brand names offering cheap generic drive units in MDF boxes, made in low-cost labour locations, presented in attractive finishes with glossy catalogues and special price offers. This speaker is a very different proposition. It is made in Germany from a pure slate cabinet by expert craftmanship techniques, using perfectly matched high quality drivers and is designed to be the best representation of this type of speaker. Class leading speed combined with a beautiful, rich tonal quality elevates the SN170 from the all too common overhyped, but ultimately unsatisfying designs.

The SN170 can be described as having a full-bodied sound with realism, dynamics and a natural presence. It is an articulate, sophisticated sonic presentation but the biggest difference between it and other speakers in this price range is that it has a sense of energy and fun. The lack of cabinet resonance results in a clean, energized sound that is very refreshing. In an age of obsessive consumerism and product hype, Fischer & Fischer represent pride of ownership and longevity. While the SN70 embodies this philosophy, it is inspired by the passion and love for music.

Excellent wrist rest, BUT not for me
I'm rating this wrist rest 5 stars despite the fact that it's not for me. The reason that it is not for me is simple: My palms get very sweaty, and this makes my palms stick to the wrist rest, making it hard to move my hands around. This is an inherent limitation of the fact that it is made out of wood, and drove me to the 17" x 4" x 0.75" foam wrist rest from Grifiti instead. If you don't have sweaty palms, however, this wrist rest is perfect. It is 4 inches deep instead of the typical 3.1 inches, it is the perfect height and tapered just so for maximum comfort, the wood (Golden Oak color) is beautiful, and the engraved logo is tasteful and non-intrusive.

The perfect wrist rest. Stop looking, just buy this one!
Color: Onyx, Size: Tenkeyless/TKL Keyboard Wrist Rest, Color: Onyx, Size: Tenkeyless/TKL Keyboard Wrist Rest
The perfect wrist rest. I used those gel and silicone wrist rests thinking the softer they are the better. Not so. This is solid hardwood and my wrists no longer ache after a long day at the computer. The size I picked is perfect for a TKL keyboard. The angles, height, and design are optimal for a comfortable typing experience. Even 8-10 hours of typing! I love Glorious' products, they come so well packaged and attention to every detail is given. Gosh, its just a wrist rest! No, it is a tool that provides comfortable work experience.

The wood is great.
I used to use a typical padded wrist pad, but am a heavy sweater. Upon reading another review in regards to that matter I decided to take the plunge on this rest. I have been a user of the Model O mouse from Glorious for a while and liked it so I trusted the company's reputation for taking gamers' needs into consideration. After using it for about a week and playing different types of games/working from home on it, I can say that although your sweat might pool during sweaty moments, it's easy to wipe off and doesn't seem to easily absorb into the wood. The wood itself is of a nice quality, I like the oak over the onyx for a more "real wood" look. There was no difference in comfort for me, you'd think being used to a padded wrist this shift would be "hard" on me, but no, I haven't had any problems. It's ergonomics for typing are also good as I notice my WPM and consistency be higher on multiple tests. All-in-all quite satisfied with the purchase, fits the aesthetic, feel, and ergonomics I was looking for.

Very well made, matches width of Keychron Q6 perfectly, great for bigger hands!
This is a nicely finished slab of wood that is an EXACT match for my Keychron Q6 in both width and height. Depthwise, this is 4", so if you got larger hands (as I do), this is a bit better than the silicone Keychron version which I believe is 3.5" or so in depth. The non-stick feet are a nice feature, and the profile is wonderful to type on. Only issue with the item I received is a small nick right below the Glorious emblem on the lower right of the wrist rest - may have been an errant tool mark. However, this doesn't detract in my own opinion, from the well-designed profile and features of this wrist rest and was easily covered with a furniture marking pen. I'm still giving this item 5-stars and getting another one for the office!

Glorious Wooden Palm Rest Durability and Stability in an Elegant Design
Color: Onyx, Size: Mouse Wrist Rest, Color: Onyx, Size: Mouse Wrist Rest
After years of using foam palm rests, I always encountered the same problem: they deformed over time, losing height, ergonomics and, consequently, their usefulness. This is especially critical when you spend between 3 and 8 hours a day at the PC for work, study or gaming, since a bad posture can increase the risk of suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. This is where Glorious' wooden palm rests come in, a solution that eliminates deformations and offers an ideal height for both the mouse version and the TKL (Tenkeyless) version. Positive points • Solid and durable construction: Unlike foam, wood maintains its shape and provides stable support over time. • Elegant and minimalist design: Its finish gives a premium touch to any setup. • Effective non-slip base: The bottom rubbers prevent unwanted movements, providing total stability. • Easy maintenance: Although wood is slightly porous and can retain natural oils or residue from creams and perfumes, cleaning it is easy. Areas for improvement • Less softness than foam: Although still comfortable, wood sacrifices some of the cushioned feel that some prefer. A redesign with a foam strip on top could improve this. • Inconsistent finish between versions: I bought the mouse rest and the TKL at the same time, but noticed that the color tones were different (one blacker than the other). It doesn't affect functionality, but it does affect aesthetics. If you're looking for durability, stability, and a sophisticated design, this is a highly recommended palm rest, especially if you find it on sale. Although it's not as soft as the foam ones, it does its job of providing ergonomic support exceptionally well. An excellent complement for those who spend long hours at the PC and are looking for a sturdier alternative to traditional palm rests.
