Sennheiser’s nieuwe HD 560S over-ear open-back hoofdtelefoon is het kleine broertje van de veel geprezen HD 660S en deelt het design met de Sennheiser HD 559 en de HD 599 voorgangers. Ondanks de gelijkenis is deze nieuwe HD 560S gericht op een heel ander publiek. Deze nieuwe Sennheiser is vooral gericht op de jongere veeleisende muziekliefhebber. De klank van deze hoofdtelefoon is dan ook speciaal afgestemd op de muziek die de doelgroep tot een jaar of 35 aanspreekt.

Nieuwe drivers

Deze gunstig geprijsde hoofdtelefoon biedt door de nieuw ontwikkelde 120 Ohm drivers met polymeer membraan en krachtigere magneet een significante sprong in geluidskwaliteit. Deze HD 560S levert een betere laagresponse en -controle tussen de 6Hz en 38Hz en speelt boven de 10kHz met meer rust, openheid en detail. Door de vlakkere frequentiecurve levert deze hoofdtelefoon een nog realistischere muziekweergave waarmee de geluidskwaliteit van deze hoofdtelefoon tevens audiofiele muziekliefhebbers zal aanspreken.

An epic naval history decades in the making

Excellent ending to Dr. Rodger's three book series "A Naval History of Britain", with the same level of detail and interesting presentation of facts I have come to expect from reading other of his works over the years. For anyone interested in a comprehensive naval history of Britain (from which the US Navy inherited much of its tradition), I would highly recommend this series. In addition, "The Wooden World: An Anatomy of the Georgian Navy" is also quite a good read. My (incomplete, sadly) collection of Dr. Rodger's works will continue to hold a special place on my naval history shelf for easy reference in the future. I also hope Dr. Rodger's health has improved. The shipper unfortunately did not pack this book well, resulting in minor damage (mostly cosmetic - book is still entirely readable).

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments

The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
