Alice is Missing is een stil rollenspel over de verdwijning van Alice Briarwood, een middelbare scholier in het slaperige stadje Silent Falls in Noord-California. 

Tijdens het spel gebruiken spelers hun telefoons om sms-berichten naar elkaar te sturen terwijl ze aanwijzingen vinden over wat er met Alice is gebeurd. Het spel loopt over een enkele sessie van twee of drie uur. Er is geen formele spelmeester, maar een persoon zal de regels moeten uitleggen en faciliteren. In de eerste 45 minuten creëren spelers hun personages, hun relaties met Alice en hun banden met elkaar. De volgende 90 minuten volgen de sms-gesprekken van de personages terwijl ze het lot van Alice ontdekken.
