Het zijn meestal rijke, rijpe en krachtige wijnen. Het grootste gedeelte van de wijngaarden ligt ten zuiden van de stad Toro en grenst voor een deel aan de DO Rueda. Proefnotities: Diep rood van kleur, een zeer expressieve neus van bessen en een vleugje karamel. Rijk in de mond, rood fruit, vanille en op de achtergrond iets van balsamico.
