Digitalis purpurea, beter bekend als Vingerhoedskruid, is een indrukwekkende vaste plant die in de vroege zomer schittert met hoge aren vol buisvormige bloemen in tinten roze, paars of wit. De statige bloeiwijze zorgt voor hoogte en elegantie in borders, cottage-tuinen en natuurlijke beplantingen. Digitalis purpurea is geliefd bij bijen en hommels, die graag diep in de sierlijke bloemen duiken.
