U zoekt een compacte met schitterend blad? Deze Perzisch ijzerhout boom Parrotia persica 'Persian Spire' is zeer geschikt voor kleine tuinen. Deze meerstammige struik of compacte, zuilvormige boom heeft geen opvallende bloeiwijze, maar wel schitterend gevormde bladeren die in de herfst zeer fraai verkleuren. Wordt ook wel Vlamboom genoemd.

Blad

De Parrotia persica Persian Spire heeft donkergroen, eirond blad met een in het oog springende brede paarse rand. In de herfst verkleurt het blad naar een geel, purper en oranjerode kleuren. De herfstverkleuring is misschien wel de allerkleurrijkste van alle tuinplanten.

Standplaats in de tuin

Deze sterke boomsoort heeft ook nog eens een fraaie bast. Hij groeit goed op zandgrond en veengrond op een zonnige of halfzon plekje in uw tuin. Staat mooi in grote borders, maar kan ook solitair in kleine en middelgrote tuinen geplaatst worden. Een iets vochtige, goed doorlatende bodem is aanbevolen. Combineer met bodembedekkers zoals Vinca's of onze borderpakketten voor halfzonborders als onderbeplanting.
