Si presenta con una veste color rosso rubino carico. I profumi al naso sono intensi, giocati su note di ciliegia, amarena, e spezie dolci come la vaniglia. In bocca è caldo, strutturato, vellutato e scorrevole. Chiude con un finale caratterizzato da un retrogusto olfattivo fruttato.“Fondo Filara” è la linea di prodotti che l’azienda Nicosia dedica ad alcuni vitigni in particolare, coltivati nelle aree più indicate per dare vita a bottiglie fortemente espressive delle caratteristiche di ogni terroir. Non fa eccezione questo Sicilia Nero d’Avola DOC, dove la componente fruttata si armonizza ad un sorso caldo e piacevole. Le uve fermentano per circa 10-15 giorni ad una temperatura ricompresa tra 24-26 °C; poi si passa all’affinamento svolto prima in acciaio e poi in barriques, per 5-6 mesi. Un’etichetta da cui emerge tutta la bellezza della Sicilia, pronta per essere bevuta adesso.
Ottimo a tutto pasto, è adatto ad accompagnare carni bianche e rosse e formaggi stagionati. Da provare con un grande piatto regionale, lo spezzatino di maiale dei nebrodi.

Awesome Boards….BUT the Smell!!!!

I’d love to give these 5 stars, they are heavy, well made, smooth, deep juice grooves, just nice….but the smell! I washed them, then used vinegar on them, set them outside over night, washed them again….its better but still present. I’d love some guidance on this. I’m hoping it goes away in a few days. It’s like a very strong woodsy smell that actually made my whole kitchen smell like these boards!
Edit: Ok, here's what I did. Washed, let dry, coated and scrubbed with apple cider vinegar, set them in a high air flow area for 24 hours (I put mine outside on the patio over night), washed and scrubbed again, let dry, scrubbed with lemons and salt, let dry, washed again. Finally, there is still a slight smell if you push them against your nose but that seems to be fading as well. So, great boards if you want to go stubbornly go through the smell removal process. I don't think it's a chemical smell, I think it's processed bamboo that is shrink wrapped in air tight packaging too soon after manufacturing. Anyway, I'll move this to 4 stars....but lots of work involved here!

Don’t worry about the smell!

These are great for the price, though I’ve never had any desire or need to use the smallest one. They smell strongly of BBQ at first, but from what I’ve read that’s a natural result of a heat treatment used to increase it’s durability and dark color (the heat cooks the sugars in the bamboo which creates the scent). Anyways, I’ve had them for awhile
now and the scent is long gone.
