Unicorn Stone is een handelsnaam voor een zeldzame en esthetisch opvallende combinatie van mineralen die gezamenlijk voorkomen in pegmatitisch gesteente. De steen bestaat hoofdzakelijk uit lepidoliet, een lithiumrijke mica, en kan daarnaast insluitsels of zones bevatten van rookkwarts, roze toermalijn (rubelliet) en pegmatiet. Deze natuurlijke samenstelling ontstaat tijdens de langzame afkoeling van granietrijke magma’s, waarbij verschillende mineralen gelijktijdig of in opeenvolgende fasen kristalliseren.

Wetenschappelijk gezien is Unicorn Steen geen afzonderlijk mineraal, maar een samengestelde steen die zijn unieke uiterlijk dankt aan de gelaagde en gemengde structuur van de betrokken mineralen. Lepidoliet zorgt voor de zachte lila tot roze tinten, rookkwarts voegt grijsbruine tot doorschijnende accenten toe, terwijl roze toermalijn levendige roze lijnen of vlekken kan vormen. Pegmatiet fungeert als de moedermatrix waarin deze mineralen zich hebben ontwikkeld. Deze combinatie wordt voornamelijk gevonden in pegmatietvelden in Madagaskar en wordt gewaardeerd om haar zeldzaamheid en harmonieuze kleursamenstelling.

 Unicorn Steen wordt gezien als een zachte maar diep werkende steen die emotionele balans en innerlijke rust bevordert. Door de aanwezigheid van lepidoliet wordt de steen sterk geassocieerd met kalmering, ontspanning en het loslaten van stress en emotionele spanning.

Glowy but not sure about the spf

My first impression was that this works more like a basic body shimmer than anything else. The Glistening Bronze shade gives a noticeable glow, especially on arms and shoulders. It spreads easily and adds a warm shimmer in the light, but the overall effect feels pretty simple and more cosmetic than skincare focused. In use, the oil blends in smoothly and feels lightweight on the skin. It does leave a bit of moisture behind, similar to a light body oil, and the shimmer shows up well outdoors. The bronze tone is fairly deep, so it seems better suited for medium to darker skin tones or anyone who wants a stronger bronzed glow. The product mentions SPF 45, but there is very little information about the sun protection side of it, so I personally treat this more like a shimmer oil than a sunscreen. Overall, this is fine if you are mainly looking for a body shimmer that adds glow and a bronzed look. It does the job of giving skin a subtle shine and a bit of hydration, but it does not stand out as anything particularly special. This Oil Definitely Glitters!

I really wanted to love this shimmer oil, but it's unfortunately not my favorite. I love that it has SPF! That is a big win for me! The oil is also very good at hydrating my skin, which I appreciate. My problem comes with the shimmer of the product. The glitter in it is too big for my liking. With it being called a shimmer oil, I expected tiny glitter that softly shimmers like shimmer powders, lotions, and oils usually do. But this stuff glit-ters! And because it's bigger sized glitter, it's a lot easier to see when it gets all over everything like clothes, furniture, spouses and children. If the shimmering glitter in this was just smaller and softer, I would love this for summer time to use on my legs and arms. But it's unfortunately just not my favorite and I don't think I'll be using it anymore.
