Wat bloesems lijken te zijn, zijn in werkelijkheid de gevederde kronen van exotische hopvogels die zich tussen het gebladerte verstoppen, naast wild versierde kevers en een bidsprinkhaan met grote ogen. Elk blad, elke veer en elke insectenvleugel is liefdevol versierd met ingewikkelde patronen die doen denken aan Zoeloe-kralenwerk.

Gemaakt in een rijk kleurenpalet, waaronder scherpe lentegroenen en weelderige olijftinten, in balans gebracht met warme roze tinten, koraal, zonnige gelen en een vleugje zachtblauw, waarbij de grondtinten doen denken aan een inktzwarte nachthemel of een stoffige savannemiddag.
