Die vind je terug in dit boek, samen met de imitaties, en wanneer, waar en hoe je die moet gebruiken. Daarnaast ontdekte ik een nieuwe rivier, op een half uur rijden van mijn huis: De Vesdre. Aanvankelijk was ik niet erg onder de indruk van deze rivier: Vervuild, deels door verstedelijkt gebied, of tussen vervallen industriegebieden door stromend, stinkend op de plaatsen waar er ongezuiverd rioolwater instroomde. Stekken midden in Verviers waar je je in Afrika waande. Verkeerslawaai op de achtergrond. Niet bepaald de romantische omgeving waar de meeste vliegvissers van dromen. Maar ook nog stukken die door weilanden stroomden, vol ranonkelbedden en vooral: veel vis. Soms hele grote. Na er enkele jaren gevist te hebben zeiden wij tegen elkaar: Wij hoeven helemaal niet naar Patagonië. Met vangsten van 50 plussers op soms minuscule vliegjes. Zelfs vissen van meer dan 60 cm die onbekommerd een Grey Flag namen bij een avondsprong. Een deel van die belevenissen staan in dit boek.

I wish I could accurately describe what it smells like— it’s just not good and for some reason, body heat only exacerbates it and makes the smell even worse and I wake up feeling like a smell like the sheets… which isn’t a good thing. Besides that, I do really enjoy them. They feel great on your skin and I love the color. I wish the smell didn’t kill them so badly for me ☹️
