Zijn childhood memories met zijn grootvader, een wijnmaker in Ribera del Duero, brachten hem in 2001 naar dit uitgestrekte landgoed van 40 hectare nabij het dorpje El Lloar. Wat hij aantrof waren verwaarloosde terrassen met oude wijngaarden — Garnacha en Cariñena, deels meer dan honderd jaar oud, op eigen wortels verankerd in de donkere llicorella-leisteen van Priorat. De Negre de Negres is de toegankelijkste en meest openhartige wijn van het domein: een blend van Garnacha, Cariñena en Syrah, 12 maanden gerijpt op Frans eikenhout. Biologisch en biodynamisch geteeld.

Beschrijving: Donker kersrood met aroma's van rijpe pruim, bramen, wilde kruiden, tijm en een koele minerale ondertoon van leisteen. Fluweelzacht, sappig en evenwichtig, met levendige zuren en een lange afdronk met hints van specerijen en lakrits.

Lekker bij: Gegrild rood vlees, wildgerechten, gerijpte kazen of een stoofpot met lamsvlees.

Leuk weetje: Alfredo Arribas liet zijn wijndomein in Priorat op maat ontwerpen — door zichzelf, als architect. Hij besloot er wijn te maken ná de bouw.
