De Wijn

Smaakimpressie
Robijnrode kleur. Een verleidelijke geur, die doet denken aan rijpe rode kersen en frambozen. Daarnaast fijne kruidigheid en subtiele aardse geuren. De smaak is fris, zacht, rijk en rond, met naast veel rijp rood fruit ook aangename kruiden en verfijnde houttonen. Een mooi complex glas, mondvullend en een bijzonder frisse, lange afdronk.

Vinificatie

De druiven worden handmatig geoogst op de hooggelegen wijngaarden (350 tot 500 m) met veel klei en kalk. Lage rendementen van 35 tot 40 hl/ha. De vergisting duurt circa 12 dagen, met dagelijkse ‘remontage’ (de schillenhoed besprenkelen met wijn onder uit het vat) en ‘pigeage’ (het onderdompelen van de schillenhoed). Men laat geen malolactische gisting plaatsvinden, voor behoud van frisheid. De wijn rijpt 30 maanden op grote vaten (500 en 2500 liter) en barriques (225 liter) en rijpt nog een periode op fles, voordat hij verhandeld wordt.

Culinair Advies
Heerlijk bij ravioli en andere pastagerechten, al dan niet in combinatie met gevogelte, gegrild of gebakken vlees van kalf of rund. Ook perfect bij anti pasti cq charcuterie en rijpe kazen.

Wijnhuis

Klassieke Soaves van het allerhoogste niveau. Leonildo Pieropan wordt gezien als de godfather van Soave. De wijnen worden gemaakt van de druiven garganega en trebbiano uit de heuvels rond de stad Soave. De speciale cuvée La Rocca, gemaakt van laat geplukte druiven, krijgt een opvoeding op Frans eikenhout en wint internationaal vele prijzen. Andrea en Dario zetten het werk van hun vader voort en maken naast de beroemde Soave ook rode wijnen van uitzondelijke kwaliteit. Na het bestuderen van regionale druivenrassen, het terroir en het microklimaat kocht het bedrijf in 1999 wijngaarden en onroerend goed in Cellore d’Ilasi (Valpolicella en Amarone). Van corvina, corvinone, rondinella en croatina veronese worden nu een prachtige Valpolicella, Ruberpan en een complexe en rijke Amarone gemaakt. Het oude vijftiende-eeuwse klooster op het domein, Villa Cipolla, wordt op dit moment gerestaureerd en verbouwd tot luxe agriturismo. De olijfolie van Pieropan wordt gemaakt van olijven van eigen olijfboomgaarden die vlakbij de wijngaarden van Soave liggen. Deze karakteristieke en delicate olijfolie gaat perfect samen met verfijnde gerechten.

Regio

De Veneto is een van de productiefste wijnstreken van Italië. Circa 20% van de nationale wijnproductie komt uit deze streek rondom Verona en Venetië. Een aanzienlijk deel van de Veneto-wijnen is van twijfelachtige kwaliteit, veroorzaakt door hoge opbrengsten en door een coöperatie-gedomineerde markt. Het is dus goed zoeken naar de – wel degelijk bestaande – goede wijnen.

De Veneto strekt zich uit van de oostoever van het Gardameer tot net ten oosten van Venetië. De belangrijkste subgebieden zijn die direct ten oosten van het Gardameer en boven de stad Verona, en het verder oostelijk (boven Treviso) liggende Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. Aan de noordkant van de Veneto zijn de Alpen van grote invloed, terwijl de Middellandse Zee aan de zuidoostkant zijn stempel drukt op het gebied.

My dog and I really love this ball. Bought this so we can play in the field behind our house at night. Tried other balls, like the glowing ones, but they're not bright enough. Other battery powered balls don't stay on long enough and I got tired of looking for them in the dark. This one stays on, depending on the switch setting, either 5 minutes, or indefinitely until it's shut off or until the battery dies. The battery, according to the instructions, should last 10 hours before needing recharging. I've charged it once when it was received, haven't had to re-charge it yet, played with it about 7 nights now 20 min each time and it's still going. Others have said it's not very durable, but I've found it to be durable enough to play catch with our border collie, haven't had any issues. but I don't let him chomp on it all he wants, just throw it and he brings it back. I suppose if your dog is an aggressive chewer and you let him just sit there and go to town on it, it won't last very long, just like any other ball. We use this ball only at night when needed, and use cheaper balls at other times to increase its life span.

We have two 18-month-old chocolate Labs (brothers—basically twins with paws). This ball is waterproof and mostly floats, although I haven’t been brave enough to throw it into the pond or river because I’m positive my dogs would treat that as a full-scale navy search mission and never find it again. It’s easy to charge, and even with 2–3 hours of walking daily, I only have to plug it in every few weeks. We’ve had it for months now and it’s still going strong—super durable. We don’t let them chew on it off-walk (because Labs), but during fetch? It’s a champ. Also—small but hilarious detail—when they catch it, their mouths light up. I have accidentally created glow-in-the-dark dogs. I love this ball so much I’m buying a backup because life without it is not an option. Best dog toy EVER. Dog is obsessed with this.
The spa works as intended it lights up at night, which is super helpful for short winter days and for when the snow starts to pile up, it illuminates the snow pile that dog dropped it in so I can find it. I haven’t actually charged it yet. It came fully charged and has been in use for over a week without needing a recharge. We only use it on outside excursions together. I keep it in my pocket on walks in case he needs something in his mouth or an incentive to run a little off leash. One will shut off after five minutes of inactivity to save battery, which is really convenient so I don’t have to keep on screwing it to turn it on and off or there’s a second setting where the light stays on until you manually turn it off. We have it on the battery saving mode and we have never lost it. Overall, a really fun toy that even the neighbors, tiny dog who can barely pick it up and enjoys. It’s not really soft for like chewing, but that also means he’s not going to destroy it. It is a heavy ball to throw, but not too bad. One of my favorite purchases for this puppy.
