Vanwege zijn scherpe breukranden werd obsidiaan in de prehistorie gebruikt voor het maken van werktuigen en wapens. Tegenwoordig wordt het gebruikt in decoratieve voorwerpen, sieraden, en chirurgische scalpelbladen.

Obsidiaan wordt vaak gezien als een krachtige beschermende steen, die wordt verondersteld om negatieve energie en invloeden af te weren. Het mineraal wordt ook geassocieerd met zelfinzicht en het bevorderen van een dieper begrip van de eigen innerlijke waarheden en fouten. Obsidiaan wordt gebruikt om de geestelijke en emotionele zuivering te ondersteunen, waardoor negatieve gedachten en patronen worden opgeruimd. Het wordt ook vaak gebruikt in spirituele praktijken om meditatie te verdiepen en spirituele groei te bevorderen

Indestructible? Not for my pitbull. Except on this toy. She has slowly chewed some of the outer portion on the backside, but it still has a lot of gnawing time left.
