De schijfborstel is bedoeld voor het verwijderen van aanloopkleur op lasnaden en is geschikt voor reinigingswerkzaamheden op kleinere oppervlakken van roestvast staal, aluminium of non-ferrometalen op randen en in groeven. Het gereedschap is ook geschikt voor ontroesten, opruwen, structureren en ontlakken.
