Rosso rubino, con riflessi porpora. Al naso si avvertono profumi fruttati di prugna, ciliegia, seguiti da note speziate, tostaure, tocchi di caffè e cacao; al palato è strutturato, ricco, dal tannino morbido e dal lungo finale, con una punta di sapidità.

Realizzato dall'azienda vinicola Fontanafredda, la Barbera d'Alba Superiore "Papagena" deve il suo nome al bizzarro personaggio del Flauto Magico di Mozart: a questa elegate eccentricità si ispira questo vino rosso, dallo stile classico ma dal piglio vivace e originale. Ottenuto da uve Barbera coltivate nella Langa albese, in seguito alla vinificazione in acciaio, sosta per circa un anno in botti di rovere.

Si abbina con piatti a base di carni rosse, o con formaggi di media stagionatura.
