De Boya BY-WM3U maakt gebruik van de 2,4GHz band. Zowel de zender als de ontvanger hebben een compacte behuizing wat de Boya BY-WM3U geschikt maakt voor het maken van onder andere instructievideo's, vlogs en interviews. Het geheel wordt geleverd in een draadloze oplaadcase die naast de oplaadcase ook wordt gebruikt om de zender en de ontvanger met elkaar te verbinden. Ook kunnen de meegeleverde adapters en windkap in deze oplaadcase worden opgeborgen. Het geheel bevat slechts 129 gram waarbij de zender en de ontvanger slechts 10,5 en 9,5 gram wegen. Zowel de zender als de ontvanger zijn vervaardigd uit hoogwaardige kunststof.
